    A mediocre lunch experience

    Provided by

Our waitress was inexperienced and forgetful. We had to keep asking for our food -- not something I'm used to doing when I'm paying sixty five dollars for lunch. Both my friend and I were underwhelmed by the soup du jour (tomato basil which was lumpy and lukewarm) as well as our salad entrees. I've heard Figaro was a wonderful Los Feliz restaurant. What happened?

    Really Enjoy The Food!!

    Provided by

I enjoy their food here. I don't know if it's also the same chef cooking as the one in Top Chef this season, but at least I like the super fast way they get the food out to you, without feeling hurried. More accurately, I think I should say that the food comes out in successions, at the perfect timing.

    Amazing eclectic atmosphere!

Amazing eclectic atmosphere! Excellent food. Service impeccable and freindly. Will go back again and again for casual lunch or feasting dinner.

    Good food, good atmosphere

When you drive by Figaro Cafe in Los Feliz, you might think it's full of pretentious hipsters/poseurs and that's it's so busy you wouldn't find a table.

While it is busy and there are some douches there, it's a great place where you can find a table pretty quickly most times. The French food is good without being over-pricey and the atmosphere is really laid-back.

Families, couples, single people, young and older alike -- these are the eclectic mix of people who dine there. You can dress up, get trendy or just walk in wearing jeans and t-shirt and not feel out of place.

I had a phenomenal Eggs Florentine with potatoes, salad and bread, and I can't recommend this place highly enough for a casual meal with friends or date.

    Left Bank in LA

    Provided by

Stumbled upon this french cafe/bistro while driving back from Griffith Observatory. It feels like walking into a real Parisian cafe, with oversized vintage mirrors, chandeliers, rattan cafe chairs, and an assortment of baked goods. There is a great happy hour with crab cakes and fries and house wine (the latter being a bit awful). The dinner menu has a good mix of vegetarian, meat and poisson- I had the peppercorn ahi, which was divine. Definitely go for the authentic atmosphere, outdoor seating and friendly service.

    Overpriced and underwhelming

    Provided by

I've been here several times over the last few years, and the last 2 times I've been were less than moving. For one, the dish we had always been told was vegan- the layered mashed potato dish, we came to find out was not after eating it for the past few years. The only vegan dish they have on the menu is a bland tofu and couscous dish, which is only ok after adding the spicy sauce to it, and no where near worth the $18 they want for it. Overpriced and underwhelming is my general sentiment about this place. I mean it's fun to come and gawk at Katherine Heigl and that dude from 24, and the decor is super cute and quaint but I'm writing this review to remind myself to not allow myself to be seduced once more by the patina of delicious specialness that this place has. OH NON! YOU VILL NOT HAVE MY MONEE AGAIN!!

    No what to order

    Provided by

I'm a big foodie and love a great flavorful steak. Well, let me tell you! I walked into this place on a whim. And I fell in love shortly after! \r \r Go and order the cheese fondue....killer, and the $60 porterhouse steak. It's meant to be shared and it's amazing. Lots of flavor and these guys do a perfect medium rare. Frites are yummy too! Order these items and you will be in food bliss! Yum.

Very slow service......but hey nice people

    Provided by

Place looks a little worn but nice. Its the service that truly is bad. Takes forever to get your waiter over and even to get your coffee. Don't believe me? Try it any morning. Food is ok but over price for what you get. Salad is in a big store bought bag they pour the dressing into and shake. Some love the look but you will be waiting awhile.

Beauty thats charming, and cheep ! ( but in a good way ! )

    Provided by

This palce is the best secret in hollywood. The menu is full of the hearty french dished that have prevailed through gererations. With big, well presented, specials. You are sure to get your fill. The dining room is a candle light opera with a charming, bohemia feel. with the seats more like couches you could stay here all night.\r The Bar area is a wonder of french style. You well be taken back buy the original light fixtures, huge wall meriors, and zinc top bar. All shipped from Paris. It?s so beautiful that it has attracted such Hollywood greats as Penelope Cruz, and Madonna for photo shoots. ( Their is also outside seating if you smoke )\r \r They offer a cheep happy hour from 5 to 7 everyday. You could easily get your fill for less than ten dollar with their mini martini's, and escargot. The bartender Wally is rather charismatic and likes his Jazz so be sure to say hello. \r All in all this is just a cute little place, with a lot a charm. The service is wonderful, you can even brush up on your french with half the staff speaking it. I would take a date here, or just go and hang out with a bottle of champagne.

    Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigaro!

    Provided by

This restaurant is so cute and has so much character. LA needs more places like this. It's great for lunch or dinner. The first time I went with my bf for a date night. He had the special which was lamb with couscous and it was amazing! I had a salmon salad and it was equally delicious. High quality and so much flavor. The second time I went was with some friend for lunch and we had a great time. I was craving something sweet so I asked for the dessert menu and the lady came back with a platter with all their desserts. I chose the fruit tart and it looked so perfect that I didn't want to eat it....but I did. It took me like 5 seconds to inhale it. So good.

    Always something wrong.

    Provided by

I want to love this place. I really do. For a few years I went over and over again because there were so many great things but everytime there was something that just made the experience regretable. Even when the food is really good, the service is terrible and then the prices are just too high for what the place is. It just never adds up so I finally gave up. \r \r Figaro has great potential and a great look but they need to take a lesson from great Parisian restaurants that know if you look like a great bistro just be a great bistro but you can't price like you're Le Cirque and serve like your Denny's. Just make up your mind about what you are and I'll know when it's appropriate to come next time. Right now it's outrageously priced for casual and way too crappy for a nice dinner.

    OMG ! Beautiful !!!

    Provided by

So, some friends and I decide to go to this place Wednesday night. It was packed so we sat at the bar. OMG! It was beautiful!! Like something you see in the movies!! We sat down and Walter the bartender, who is great to talk to told us about there happy hour, which had escargot, crab cakes and other yummy stuff. So we got some of that and just sat there and relaxed. We had 2 or 3 nice glasses of cab. We also split the cheese platter, and a nice mango salad. But this place is so beautiful a part from the bar they have this candle lit dining room Ahhh?? so beautiful. And, the lady from Grey?s anatomy, I can?t remember her name, the catty one with the brown hair, She was there too. So all around experience; GREAT! Now if only I could find a date to take me there for dinner, Humm.. excuse me, bartender??

    Wow! Great little find ...

    Provided by

So I?m going to see James Taylor @ The Greek. (He was good) But this little place was great. 3 dollar beers on the happy hour, awesome fries and mini burger, Cab or merlot, my friends and I got tipsy enjoying there outside seating and had a great pre concert blast at the fig. It has a really cool bar on the inside. Zinc I think the guy said. But yeah cool place would love to come back for the happy hour again. ; )

    I great little place : )

    Provided by

This place is a jewel. My wife and I found this place before going to a concert at the Greek theatre and just fell in love with it. It felt like Paris! We had a few happy hour items, the crab cakes, fries, then for dinner we both got the steak with the black peppercorn sauce. To quote my wife it was D ?lish. She?s so la, love you darling. Our servers name was Casey. And she was a darling, Genuine and sweet. She checked in on us and made us feel important. All in all my wife and I will come back with our friends and enjoy another great night at The Figaro.

    new ownership= bad customer service

    Provided by

This place is going way down hill since the new owners took over. I used to like coming here but my last few experiences have been really bad and I don't think I'll go back.

    Bad service, ok food

    Provided by

We ate here and had terrible service. Extremely poor service. Figaro?s Cafe is an interesting place. It looks sort of shabby on the outside but inside it has 2 rooms one sort funky and bohemian like and the other more like a bistro you?d find in Paris. The food is good but high priced.\r \r Our waitress was truly terrible. When we asked what the specials were she pointed to a sign a couple of tables away where it was leaning on a chair and she said ?it?s over there you can go read it. At the end when we asked to see a desert tray she said we could go see what the deserts are by getting up and going to see what they had at the bakery. It took a busboy to bring us the desert tray.\r \r We had the beef beef bourgninon which was served in a cute dish complete with the top. It had very little meat lots of thick fettuccine noodles, loaded with potatoes ad carrots. Not what we expected at all. Tasty but not enough meat. We had to add lots of salt to get that taste out of it too.

    barely edible ""food"", unbearable service

    Provided by

after the change in ownership, the ingredients are no longer organic, and the food is no longer prepared with any passion or care. Unfortunately the new owners are trying to profit as much as possible off the name the former owners spent years building. This is place is for the desperately hungry who don't care how much bad food costs.

    authentically french

    Provided by

this place was surprisingly like being at an actual paris cafe. it was a pleasant surprise to have the food and the ambience and the service be all pretty consistent. the portions are also small (like in paris) but the food and server recommendations were good. everything was really fresh tasting, and more importantly, authentic tasting. the decor is cute and very 'frenchie'- highly recommend this place!

    Great experience

    Provided by

\r I really liked my lunch there and loved the casual warm atmosphere... it's really casual and easy with pretty descend food. You can sit outside, read a book and enjoy a nice lunch; or go with friends and have some drinks and just hang out for the afternoon. I went a few days ago with my boyfriend and had the crab cakes which were really good! My Friend ordered the salmon which was delicious but it was smothered in oil/pesto sauce even on the vegetables so that was little bit of a bummer. But other than that, the place was clean, comfortable with red comfy booths, and french pictures everywhere. The staff was surprisingly nice and our waitress was really friendly and attentive (no attitude that I could detect). I think the best time to go is in the late afternoon when it clears out a bit so you can just relax.

Figaro; What a great little find : )

    Provided by

Figaro; This place is Awsome ! The bar is beautiful, and made of zinc. My wife and I sat in the candlelight dinning area and just let the night melt away. We had one of the friday night specials, a stuffed lobster tail, and a great bottle of wine, wonderful. What a great little find. I will be returning to this place with friends. Figaro is the best french place I have found in my 7 years in LA ! P.s They even have Del tremmers a beer I can't find anywhere. Their staff is witty and made the night go buy peacefully. Thanks again figaro : )
