I would not recommend attendin...

I would not recommend attending the Echoplex/Echo. The security there are inhumane and like to use people as punching bags for their own enjoyment. I witnessed my sister being beat up by multiple security guards all at once as she laid in fetal position on New Years Eve. She was kicked and stomped in the head, kicked in her stomach, legs, arms, and back. She was battered and beat up terribly and suffered multiple inj... view more

Eh.

Weird crowd, but at least there's no pressure to gussy up, right? As long as you don't go more than once every few months, you won't get too tired of the awkward-hipster crowd and endless replays of The Smiths and Blur. Cheap, too. Bring a warm coat so you can sit outside and smoke with your friends all night.

Cold, cavernous and unpleasant

Being one of the very few venues of this size in LA (not too big, not too small) The Echoplex puts on some great shows. Sadly, this is the only compliment I can think to give it. The sound is almost always terrible because of the weird shape of the venue (low ceiling, long and narrow). Unless you have just the right number of people in there, the sound bounces around giving every band a muddy quality. Incidenta... view more

Oh yes

Came here a couple of weeks ago to see the AppleSeed Cast. My friend who LIVES HERE IN ECHO PARK, apparently found out this place is under the Echo, as in you have to cross the street from The Echo and go down some stairs to the street below which is also under a bridge to get to The EchoPlex, which is a bit bigger than the Echo. \r \r This place is hipster central, full of awkward couples and friends mumbling thin... view more

Get Your Hipster On

There's nothing better than a live show and catching a band at the Echoplex is loads of fun. Just below Sunset and through an alley off Glendale, the Echoplex may seem like a small place at first but go further and you discover lots of seating, a large dance floor and two bars. There's also an outside patio. I like almost everything about it except the drinks which are in small plastic cups. And the parking. ... view more
