Fancy Italian fare, this place feels like the perfect spot for a corporate dinner or holiday party. It's upscale and polished, and the menu is interesting but not too over-the-top. Everyone will find something they will want to order here. Top-notch wait staff.

Best Happy Hour in DTLA

If someone asked me which restaurant I was frequenting the most these days, I have to answer it's Drago Centro. Whether it's for lunch, dinner or happy hour, you can find me there.

For lunch, they offer a panini bar. Sidle up to the bar and ask for the menu. There's several panini options and all under $10. Plus, I had a wonderful heaping plate of beet salad for only $3.

For dinner, I love their pastas. But it's the big meaty dishes where they shine.

For their all day bar menu (read: happy hour all day, every day), my picks are the Kobe sliders (only $7!) and sausage pizza (only $4). Plus, there's $5 cocktails that change seasonally.

After 5 p.m., they offer complimentary valet parking with validation.

Drago Centro may be the best happy hour in DTLA but I love it for just about everything else as well.

Check please!

The good parts are the decor very cool and room does have a good feel to it. The bartender was also very helpful in picking a few specialty drinks for us, most include some fresh ingredients in them.He was the highlight of the night. For dinner we had the muscles and they had this fishy smell like they were from the LA river. My wife had le paste di grano duro and I had the le pappardelle al fagiano my wife didn't like her dish so we had to switch. I also didn't like her dish my jaw was getting tired of chewing the hard pasta. The pappardelle was great we both enjoyed it. The wait staff was nothing to brag about either the woman was slow with drinks and getting orders. All in all not worth the trip downtown we were disappointed in our dinning experience.

Great ambience, average food

Couldn't find anything spicy on the menu... The cozze 'npepate missed the ""pepata"" (peppered/spicy) part. The lobster pasta carbonara style just tasted rich. Yep, the only flavor I could taste was the cream. For dessert, the waitress pushed for the finger size fritters: ""The crowd favorites!"". Well, I do not belong to that crowd then. They were very very dry. I loved the space, and the service...but the food was just average. Good, but average.

Went the day after Virbila of the L.A. Times gave the place a 2 1/2 star rating. Big mistake. Arrived early, seated 30 minutes later without apology even though tables were open. First courses of foie gras creme brulee and langoustine carpaccio were excellent (but neither is really ""cooking.""). Wide noodle pasta with Italian sausage was okay. Main course of pork belly was dry and not tender and the skin was tough and chewy. The dessert doughnuts begged for some kind of sauce to offset their dryness. Poured my own wine and water throughout the evening.

I know Celestino Drago can cook. I've had a few dishes at his various restaurants that were outstanding. I keep trying the new ones, hoping that he will finally have a place that is all good all the time, but I keep being disappointed.

BRAVO Drago!

My husband and I dined at Drago last night. It was by far one of our best dining experiences. The restaurant is sleek, modern and has a friendly vibe. The service was superior. But, the food was beyond exceptional. We had the oxtail ravioli which was pefectly cooked and scrumptious. The chicken dish was the best in town. They have a huge list of pasta dishes with fresh ingredients. This eatery is the best in downtown L.A. We live on the westside and will be coming downtown quite often to eat at Drago.

Okay Italian food.

I went there for lunch. It is very popular at lunch. The tables are very close together so don't expect an intimate private setting. The atmosphere is very nice. Because it was my first time there, I wanted to try a couple different dishes. Based on the waiter's recommendation, we split a pasta entree as an appetizer and ordered sea bass as our main dish. I thought the food was good, but not great. It was expensive for lunch. I think the sea bass was $25. I have heard that it is doing well for lunch, but not as well for dinner.
