Pretty good...

Not a lot of options for a hungry person here in downtown LA jewelry district. Daily Grill is pretty good all things considering; its not great, it good and better than most other day time restaurants here in downtown. I will come back to eat here again.

Good Service, Friendly Waitress.

I went to this restaurant last night. Valet Parking is on Flower and not on 6th St. We were seated right away as the place was not crowded at 7:45. I ordered a NY Steak and my date ordered a cheese burger. I enjoyed my meal and my date inhaled his. I have no complaints about this place. Everything was just right. The mashed potatos and broccoli portions were huge.

Better happy hour than other places

My friends and I went there for happy hour. We've been across the city and back to try out all the best places for good prices and by far this daily grill in LA is good. It was busy, it was a great atmospher ( i felt like when i looked out the window with the 'daily grill' decal and the buildings in the background were straight from the Superman movie scenes) I'd go again. definately. service was great for cheap drinks! bring on the quesadillas and cheeseburger sliders!

Don't waste your time

My husband and I were in LA for our 21st anniversary. We stayed across the street from The Daily Grill, and stopped there for breakfast. It was not busy, maybe 3 tables occupied. It took the waiter 15 minutes to even take our order, at which time he complained about the 'computers' being down. We ordered a very basic breakfast - pancakes/bacon/potatoes, and eggs over medium-well/bacon/English muffin. Our food came 20 minutes later - the pancakes tasted like garlic and my eggs were pretty much raw still. Our waiter was not seen again, and we finally had to flag down someone else to get our check. We paid the bill, and then asked to see the manager. The couple at the table across from us were also complaining about their meal/service. We gave our complaint to the manager (same guy who took our check), at which time our waiter re-appeared. The manager seemed appreciative of our letting him know how we felt, and I told him we'd be leaving a less than stellar review. The waiter stood on the sidelines listening...

See the restaurant for what is REALLY is!!

I just have to say I don't get the whole ""it's overpriced"" thing. My wife and I have eaten at the Daily Grill in downtown Los Angeles on numerous occasions (our latest visit was 6/29/07) and we find this to be an outstanding dining experience. As we sat and discussed our recent dinner only one word comes to mind - consistent. Each and every time we have eaten there the entire dining experience has been consistent from everything from entering and being greeted, to the service, to the dinner, to the overall atmosphere. We actually have decided that when we are wanting to go out for dinner from now on we would start with the Daily Grill at the top of the list and then decide. Our recent meal was fantastic! We had a nice couple of drinks, mixed and a glass of wine (which by the way they are one of the few restaurants that serve one of my favorite wines a Zinfandel). We had the signature onion rings that were cooked to perfection a dazzling demonstration of a 10. We ordered the blackberry pork chop and the chicken piccatta. When the server delivered the dishes my eyes about popped out of my head when I saw the size of the pork chop it was HUGE, draped over a bed of mashed potatoes and some grilled vegetables and apples (that I would like to comment on but can't because my wife inhaled them so I guess that speaks for itself on how good they were). The pork was tender and excellent. The chicken piccatta was some of the best I have eaten, tender and not to much lemon and it also was accompanied by a generous portion of mashed potatoes and broccoli that was perfectly cooked. Needless to say we had leftovers to bring home only a few blocks to walk. The service was attentive and friendly. This is one of the the best restaurants, for the money, in downtown. Try it and compare the price and quality of the entire experience and we think you will agree that it is not overpriced and what is the cost of great quality and consistency. Enjoy it, we do!

happy hour rocks!

i have eaten here during lunch and i have always thought the food was a bit overpriced. but, for happy hour, nothing beats $2.95! and, if you love crab cakes, you have to have the crab cake sandwich -- the crab meat is real and you could tell it was just pulled out of the crab. it is sooooooooooooo tasty and juicy; and the bread has that sweet flavor too. it is just great. the rest of the bar menu could be a good or bad, depending on what you order. i enjoy the popcorn shrimp too. my friends enjoy the chicken potpie. i thought the quesadilla was not great and the tuna sashimi did not have any flavor. but for $2.95... you cold try the entire menu and it won't put you in the poor house.

Nothin' Special - Overpriced

The food is nothing special, frequently comes out cold or hot (the opposite of how you would want it) and is overpriced, except during happy hour when it costs about $1.95/dish, but then they hose you on the drinks. Skip it.

Busy Downtown spot

This is a chain, but a welcome addition to the Downtown LA line up of restaurants. The food is above average and the prices are a little high, but its a Daily Grill so nothing new there. Its located on the corner of Flower and 6th and is on the ground level with all glass to the streets. Its a nice view of the hustle and bustle of LA and its open on Sundays. Guinness and Stella on tap as well as a full bar. Happy hour is very busy with the office crowd, but getting a table is usually no more than a 10 minute wait. Valet is $5 with validation and right out front on Flower street.
