It's not easy to find good Thai food but I like this place. It's not purely authentic but it's good. The prices have jumped a bit in the last few years but it's still worth it. I like the duck rolls, veggie rolls, and all the noodle dishes are good - pad thai being my favorite. They have a lot of good salads too. I don't eat curry much so I couldn't give you an opinion on that.
The whole Asian female waitress thing is a little cheesy but whatever. As long as someone takes the order and brings the food.

The curry at this place is watered down poo. The vegetables are undercooked. The portions are small and WAY over priced!!! I spent 12 bucks on two tiny crab cakes and a box full of lettuce! Ordered delivery and it showed up cold and soggy. Bottom line, this place will disappoint you! Do yourself a favor, go to Toi Restaurant on Wilshire instead.

This place has great Satay. The decor is great, the service is great, and the food is excellent. It's somewhat pricey for thai food, but every dish is outstanding. It does get crowded at dinner time, so expect to wait for a table if you're there right at dinner time. They also have great Soju cocktails and martini's & deliver!
ALSO, THEY HAVE VALET! every place in LA as far as i'm concerned should have it, so that's a plus.

Ok. After reading some of the reviews I hesitated in bringing my boyfriend to Chan Dara for dinner. But not only is the staff beautiful (both male and female) but they were very nice and gave excellent service. I guess if you are afraid that your guy's eyes will wander, the you better lock him in a closet. The food was very good. Everything that we ordered was excellent. Do not miss the Thai Lollipop (lamb chops) or the whole fried sea bass.....both are absolutely delicious.
To the management of the restaurant, you have a great bunch of people working there. Congrats on a great job of putting together your team. I know how hard it is.

Yes, there's lots of Thai food restaurants in Los Angeles...and yes, some of the places do have good food. But Chan Dara deserves to be in a league of their own and they're far from being a hole-in-the-wall (though there are some good ones in LA) I've been dining @Chan Dara for 10 years. I used to go to the one in Hollywood all the time, as well as (the now closed) Chan Darette in Marina Del Rey. Today I took my Mother there for Mother's Day because it's her favorite place for Thai food (and that's were she wanted to go) The food was just as good as it's ever been, the menu consists of Thai classics as well as several other creative dishes & Entree's, the service was OUTSTANDING (and they were busy!)...and I have to say, the prices are not as unreasonable as some of the previous reviewers claim. Regardless of the fact the waitresses working today were beautiful on the outside...they're just as sweet & friendly on the inside (and so were all the males who work there too) The food is exceptional, it's prepared in a healthy manner, and the dessert menu is extensive (unlike a previous reviewer stated) There's not too many places in LA were you can get great Thai Food, great service, a full bar, with nice decor & atmosphare, from people who really make you feel like they care you're there. If you're looking to save $1.00 to $2.00 per dish then go to a hole-in-the-wall. Because Chara Dara has a whole lot more to offer if you're looking for the perfect dining experience. (and by the way...I think it's pretty funny how a previous reviewer claimed the place was ""too noisy"" on a Sat. Night due too so many Birthdays! That should tell you how popular the place is! So if you don't want any noise eating Thai food on a Saturday Night, then next time, stay home & have take-out :)

Recently visited Chan Dara and I have to say that the food was very good. Evertything we had was great. The servers were attentive and beautiful (and other cusomers too. Saw Bai Ling there this weekend and according to the manager she is a regular there.) Bangkok steak and the seafood pad thai is what my friend and I ordered. The portion is very generous ( plenty of seafood in the pad thai) and the taste is very good. Not much selection on dessert but the banana flambe we had was very good. I don't know how they got a $40 and above for cost, because it's not that expensive......go during the week for a quiter dinner.

Haven't been to Chan Dara in a while so decided to take some out of town guests there this pass Saturday. I have to say that its better than I remembered it. The food and the service were both excellent.
Sometimes in a Thai restaurant you can get so-so service and you deal with it. But being in the industry myself (I am a server too!!!), I am a little picky about service. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful from start to finish......portions are enough to share on most dishes here, so ask your server for help....you have to try the Thai Lollipop if you like lamb....the Black Sea Bass is awesome also. Thanks for a great evening!!!!!!!

A good friend recommended this place. He and his wife have been going there for the last 10yrs. I have to say that the recommendation is right on. We ran late for our reservation, but was greeted by a very sweet young lady and seated right away. The food is flavorful and delicious. The portions are big enough to share. I recommend going family style. The staff is very attentive and friendly. I almost changed my mind after reading some of the reviews about the service (that's why I am writing one now), the service was excellent !!!! Maybe the staff is better now than before I really couldn't tell you.
