Overall
Great Artist in the City of Angels

I recently went to Broken Art Tattoo to get a piece done that has been in my mind for a couple of years - it is a back piece that started with a tribal phoenix on one side of my back that I got done in Vegas with an average artist. So I came upon Broken Art by doing careful research and seeing the portfolio of work. Jeremy Swan has the most consistent beautiful art work I have seen. Then I found out he designed the shirts for Musink. That sealed the deal for me - I had to get my next piece, a cross, with him. I went in the shop and the first thing I notice is a life size statue of Darth Maul in the entrance. Then as I go in further, there is a small bar in one corner, a couple of couches, and a ping pong table! It was an inviting atmosphere. Jeremy was tattooing someone at the time, but was able to pause for a bit for me to present the work I wanted done and book an appointment. So, it was not surprising I got my appointment about a month later and placed an $80 deposit for it. He charges by the hour - $175. When the day came to do it, I was excited. I got the shop and when Jeremy arrived, he greeted me, went to settle down a few things, and went to work on my design on paper with a few custom changes. Immediately I was impressed with how quick he did this and how the ideas flowed from his mind to paper. When he saw the phoenix I had, he looked at the cross, and immediately suggested to not only get the cross done, but also get the phoenix on the other side as well with a few more additions to "frame" the cross and make it complete - all this came to him on the fly. So, looking at a rough sketch of what he meant, I immediately agreed. The tattooing session itself was about 2 hours and it was intense. When the cross was done, my jaw fell down. The colors and design just stood out - it was perfect! I booked my next appointment - about a 5 weeks from now - to finish off the piece. I could not recommend a better artist! If you want quality work, stop by and check the place out for yourself - you wont regret it!
