Dr. Schulman's been trying to avoid seeing us and give us an explanation about the surgery he performed on my dog because he can NOT. Plus, he tries to tell his assistant to do all the explanation and of course they don't even know what they're talking about. Dr. Schulman performed side to side auto suture to connect intestines of my dog a couple of years ago. The auto suture was like a stapler and it tied intestines together with a metal piece. And this time, I went in to the hospital because my dog kept throwing up and had no appetite. So, first X-Ray was taken to see if anything was inside his stomach. A necklace-like object was clearly there. Dr. Campbell and Dr. Kim checked the X-Ray and they said that it is a foreign body which is not supposed be there. Then, we asked them to perform a surgery to take it out. Next day, we found out that nothing was found. And the doctor who performed the surgery was Dr. Schulman. They didn't even explain about the metal piece that they put in and COULD NOT identify on the clear X-Ray and from the MEDICAL RECORD. That is so absurd. I don't believe him nor other people working there at all. They just blame to other stuff and don't have communication skills at all. I asked this assistant to tell Dr. Schulman about my concern. She said ""certainly."" with a big smile. But NOTHING was communicated. Things like that happened not just once but OVER AND OVER. Remembering now that I asked them to put Euro chip and what they put was a domestic chip.... I should've noticed that time... too late. I definitely NEVER come back here again. Please don't make a mistake if you really love your pet. I should have asked people around because now I'm hearing so many bad reputation from my friends and people I know. My biggest mistake was bringing my dog to this horrible hospital. They always advertise on Japanese free magazine. They have Japanese stuff. But be aware, they take advantage of people like us who don't have any knowledge about Veterinary. All they care about is MONEY. That's at least how I felt from my personal experience there.

From the moment the elevator opened, I found this hospital so clean and organized. The receptionists' are so delightful and they seem to be so in tuned with each other. The girl who walked my pet and I to the exam room was polite and so concerned with my pet's issues. My appointment was scheduled with Dr. Schulman, although he was 20 minutes late, he was so great that I understood why people wait for him. He took time to get to know my poodle before he did a thorough exam. He answered all of my questions and gave me more than one option for treatment. Every part of this visit was impeccable. I will continue to visit this hospital and will let you know if anything changes.

This is the fourth veterinarian I've been to with my dog in the past year, and Animal Medical Center is really great. I took my dog here after he ate something he wasnt supposed to and start throwing up heavily. They did an X-Ray, and then recommended a barium scan, all of which they were able to do right there. My previous vet always had to farm this work out to a better equipped hospital, so the ability to get an X-Ray result in 10 - 15 minutes is very nice. The staff was even nice enough to give me a CD with the X-Ray images so I could keep them for my own records. Typically barium x-rays take a few hours to run, but the great thing is that this hospital is open 24 hours, so I was getting calls about the status of my dog as late as midnight. \r \r My principal doctor, Dr. Gross, was amazing: she was patient with all of my questions and did a great job explaining what was the meaning and point of all the procedures. She also provided estimates of all procedures so there wouldn't be any surprises. \r \r It turned out that my dog needed surgery, and again they were able to do it right there, calling me as soon as the operation was done to let me know how things were. I was also able to visit my dog at all sorts of hours, even coming by at 11pm on a Saturday, and the staff had no problem taking the time to let me play with my dog a bit; they even chatted with me and it was a very friendly atmosphere. When it came to pay and fill out insurance paperwork, the staff knew exactly what they were doing and filed my paperwork very quickly. \r \r My dog is doing very well now. Even a couple of days after the surgery he was eating well and feeling very perky, so I think they really did a great job. I highly recommend this place, especially since they are open all night and seem to be able to do any procedure.

It would take 10 pages to explain my experiences here from beginning to end. But, I can tell you that because of the gross negligence of Dr. Schulman my pet died. Ive talked to other vets as well as a couple lawyers and they all said I could easily suee and win. I decided not to though, it wouldnt really make a difference in the end and would mean having to re-live the horrible experience many times over. Im glad for this forum because maybe I can save someone the pain that I went through. The hospital itself has been growing exponentially for years, as has Dr. Schulmans ego and recklessness. He is not the nice guy he pretends to be in the examining room. He speaks in a demeaning way to his staff and insults clients when behind closed doors. I know people that have worked there in the past and I've heard him myself. Schulman is a highly respected surgeon and a lot of other vets send animals to him for surgeries. His surgeries for the most part work out (although I've read some horror stories on here tonight). Schulman as a vet though beware. If you speak to the animal rescue groups around the Westside they will tell you the same thing. Ask around at the dog parks. Hes developing a reputation. He will usually push for the surgery route. Illustrating this in its extreme, he pushes amputation far to often as the first approach. Hes wanted to amputate 2 of my pets tails and pushed to amputate my friends cats p*nis once. Not kidding. My friend took the cat to another vet, got antibiotics, and everything was fine. On a side note Dr. Schiff, Dr. Sandhu, and almost all the other staff are super nice and compassionate people. But the place is just too big with too many animals to function properly or safely, and Schulman is a loose cannon. He is neither honest, nor a good person. Stay away from this hospital if you love your pet.

I have been to Dr. Schulman's office twice and each time he has been compassionate, kind and spent a lot of time with me explaining what he thought the problem was. He also got right on the floor and started loving on and playing with my dog to gain her trust before manipulating her joints for the exam. I had several questions between visits and he promptly returned my calls to answer all my questions and concerns (I appreciated he has a personal voicemail to leave your message on as opposed to with the front desk). He has never pushed for surgery even though is an orthopedic surgeon and instead has encouraged me to be conservative in treatment. Now, his staff.. that is another story! The vet techs seem adequate. The front desk is nice, but VERY scattered and disorganized- so much so that I have thought about not coming back even though I have had wonderful experiences with Dr. Schulman.

The Dr. who directs this hospital Dr Schulman has an ego larger than himself. The place is poorly ran. He needs more staff. They dodnot communicate with each other so theres constant confusion and promises made to be broken. When you question or dispute anything they blame the next person. Including the dr!!! I was told by Dr Schulmans nurse Susan that the dr was spreading rumors about me! Is that unbelievable? His own nurse trashing him. I wouldnt reccomend you bring your expired animal here. The place is not qualified to care for a dog biscuit.

I am aformer employee of Dr Alan Schulman. He is unprofessional at best. He laughs at his patients behind thier backs and tells his office staff to gage the customer and bill accordingly. To turn away people who didnt appear to have money. He constantly made promises and then when he wouldnt follow through try and blame his employees. There arent enough people working there. The dogs dont get walked enough. They stay cooped up in small cages. He is a terrible doctor. Donot bring your pet here.

This place is a nightmare. If you care for your pet, do NOT go here. Dr. Schiff is the worst vet I have ever seen.

There was a male technician standing by the reception desk and talking to his co-workers. He had a leash in his hand hitting it on the desk like a whip again and again and over. It was such a bad vive. So I realized a dog was scared and shaking. So I called and told them on the way home. But then, lady on the phone laughed and said, ""Don't worry, he is a NO.1 technician here."". I told her that I don't want him to take care of my cats there. Some receptionists are great but some of them are not friendly at all.
