In 2009 the original owner sold this liquor store to an asian guy, which remodeled it, and made a lot of improvements, such as new and bigger coolers, new cashier machines, more professional employees and services, there is also more space to walk in between the isles, now you can find many different kind of items than before, there is a variety of liquors, sodas, and beers to choose from, Mexican items are present at the store as well as some beers from Guatemala, and El Salvador. they have a whole side plenty of almost all kind of chips, at the regular price of .99 cents, and some at the price of 35 cents or 3 for a Dollar (is not that amazing?)pieces of bread, candies, .50 cents sodas (at door number 2), scrash lottery tickets, charcoal, ice bags, caps and bowls noodles, soaps, downy, juices, milk, ham, ice cream, water, calling cards, energy drinks, etc. etc. they have also an ATM machine, they accept your debit card, and EBT cards (Food Stamps and Cash Purchase) the schedule goes from 7:30 am to midnight and from 7:30 am to 1:00am on Fridays and Saturdays, The bad things: 2 of the employees does not speak English very well, so is a little hard to communicate with them, another bad thing is that some times whe you get ther you could find outside the store asking for some change (coins) to spare, the 3 bad thing and the last one, is about the parking, the space to park your car is small, and at the street there are only space for 2 cars and you can stay just for about 5 minutes, thaks God the service is fast and friendly, the over all review for this store is as for my opinion 3 stars, I recommend you to visit it is you are in the area, on weekend at night they have security service, which make your visit more safer.
I have been shopping at Trader Joe's for over 10 years. For many years I considered the Silver Lake Trader Joe's my store. But then the Hollywood and Vine store opened a couple blocks from where I work and I started shopping there on my lunch. A employee by the name of A.J. really goes out of his way to make sure I am secure with my experience each morning I am there. He runs around that store attending to everybody it seems like. One would think he runs that store yet does not wear a flower shirt yet. A.J. is funny and puts a smile on my face every time he checks me out. With simple conversation , politeness, and body language A.J. makes me and everyone in his line feel like they are at home. I have made friends with other customers who I have met standing in line at A.J.s register. A.J. keeps everything moving and always makes sure everybody waiting in line is involved in the conversations while bagging groceries. I enjoy the service I get so much from A.J. that now my husband and I drive to the Vine store every other weekend to do our regular shopping because we know A.J. will be there to assist us with our purchases and over all experience shopping together. We love Trader Joe's , but if every Trader Joe's had a employee like A.J. the Vine store would not be so special to us. The Hollywood Vine Trader Joe's is beautiful and the service I get from A.J. is exceptional. I recommend doing your shopping early at this location between 9am and 11am Wednesday through Sunday because those are the days our favorite employee is scheduled. He is one of the reasons we no longer go to Silver Lake. Thank You A.J. Jamesla
Oh Trader Joe's....I love you. But I hate you. Shopping at TJ's during normal working people's available shopping hours (any time on the weekends or after 5pm on weekdays) is just awful. It's h#ll on earth with reasonably priced organic produce. Don't get me wrong, the staff are friendly and helpful and I love the merchandise and the prices, but dear god....from the aneurysm inducing parking lot to the panic attack inducing aisles, it can be quite the clusterfxck. Seriously, after last night's shopping trip I felt like I needed a drink. Or a Valium. Hell, I could have used both. If you have the luxury of being able to do your shopping at 2pm on a random Wednesday, take advantage of this. You'll be able to browse all the great products at your leisure. But if you go on weekends or weeknights, forget it. You need to have a plan. You need to know your list by heart as there is nowhere to stop for 10 seconds to make sure you're not forgetting anything. You cannot stop to check the dates on produce. Can't decide between regular feta & the reduced fat version? TOO BAD. Keep it moving or else you'll p!ss everyone off. This can be a problem because some of the produce isn't as fresh as it should be. On numerous occasions I've had to throw out produce because I realized it was moldy when I brought it home. Examples of this are the pomegranate seeds and raspberries. If you have the time, really look at it to make sure it's fresh enough to last a few days. The prices and selection keep me coming back. I just wish the store had wider aisles and a bigger parking lot.
