Getting a good haircut requires good communication between the haircutter and the customer. I have litttle sympathy for those who merely plop down in the seat and say "Gimme a trim," then walk out griping because they didn't get exactly what they want. The friendly stylists at this SuperCuts encourage you to tell them what you want. Hey, they're haircutters, not psychics! So be prepared to interact, and you will find them very accommodating. They are also very warm and personable, making a visit here fun,(unlike a more trendy nearby barber shop, where the attitude is "cool" bordering on mild annoyance, as though the staff are ticked off about having to have a day job while the band's playing beer-bars for peanuts.) Word has it that this particular Super Cuts "corrects" a lot of haircut misfires done by other shops, which wouldn't surprise me. They are indeed "super" in their own humble way.
I am an African-American woman with natural hair (i.e., hair that has never been chemically treated). I have had two wonderful experiences with Brazilian Blowout treatments at Hello Gorgeous Salon (one initial and one touch-up)! In fact, I am scheduled to go back to her for another touch-up treatment next month. I commend El for her knowledge and expertise concerning ethnic hair. She is quite skilled and is a stylist who takes great pride in her work. In addition, El follows up with me after every treatment to ensure my hair is doing well and even has me come back within a few days for a complimentary wash and blow dry. El has a way of putting you at ease, as she is warm and out-going. I plan on returning to her indefinitely and am grateful to have found a stylist of her caliber!
Let me just say right away: this place is not for everybody. It's relentlessly hip in that "we don't care" way, which is a major turn off for a lot of folks. But I've found the stylist that I like and she's a blast (ask for Blu, but don't you dare take my place on Saturdays once a month!). Yeah, and it's a million bucks cheaper than the stylist you're going to ... and you don't have to feel like you're going to Fantastic Sams in the process. But for those of you who need a glam salon, loads of attention or something a little more traditional ... this isn't the place for you.
