I've been a loyal customer of Authentic for over 10 years and wouldn’t go anyplace else. What I like most about Authentic is the respect and service that they give their clientele. Jesslyn, the owner, is a very kind person. Every time I walked into the shop I am greeted with a welcoming smile and made to feel as though I am a valued customer. The atmosphere is always calm and relaxing. There is ample reading material as well as television and light Christian music or soft jazz. And this is one of the only shops I know of that does not allow foul language, excessive noise. As a devout Christian woman, I greatly appreciate this. Unfortunately, the internet has made it easy for people to post negative and false information about someone without proof or cause. This leads me to believe that the negative commenter might have some personal vendetta and was out to harm the reputation of this great shop. This is usually do to jealousy or just plain MEAN. So for anyone looking for a great salon that offers the latest styling techniques in weaving, straightening, wraps, short styles, locs, Twists, up-do’s and special occasions, and has great pricing and a comfortable atmosphere, check out Authentic.

I have been a customer of this establishment for 10 + years the location has changed but not the service. Every customer is treated equally the same and the stylists take their time to ensure that you are completely satisfied (if one hair is out of place and not to your satisfaction, the stylist takes the time required to make sure you know that you're valued and not just a dollar sign like other establishments). Yes, this might make the wait time a little longer but for this type of personalized service I make the time in my schedule. Most of the clients have been patronizing this salon for years and therefore it is like visiting with family & friends. Keep in mind that they are striving to keep the environment in a positive flow but as we know the riff raff sneaks in under the radar sometimes. There are some things in life that you can't put a price on and my time at the hair salon falls within that category (we talk, laugh and leave with hairstyles that receive numerous compliments). I would recommend this hair salon to anyone who's looking for gifted hair stylists that care and not just a hair shop.
I used to have my hair done years ago by Paul Vega. Then, I decided to color my own hair & save some money by going to others for a hair cut. Well, let me say this. Mistake! He does a fantastic job with color. I have a beautiful shade of red that does not fade quickly. In the sun, especially, so beautiful. I have thick, curly hair, and no one can cut my hair like Paul. I don't know why it is sooooooo difficult to cut my hair properly and take out all the volume that needs to come out so that the curls look right. But, there is definitely a talent here...hands down...the Best! What is insane is that his prices are the same they've been for at least a few years. $50 for color and $40 for the cut. I think it is a great deal. So, ask for Paul! He is talented, nice, and I guarantee a good job.
