Firestone

upon arrival in Detroit,

after a 24hr drive from South Dakota, my 01 Honda Civic began to overheat.

i took it to the nearest repair shop Sat afternoon & waited for the bad news.

Monday i was told i needed a water pump & timing belt

(although the timing belt was new)

i agreed to let them do the work.

i was told it would be completed Monday.

i took a cab to my new job Monday, $78 roundtrip :(

i went to the shop Monday evening, my car was not ready & they said "we'll call you"

Tuesday i rented a car.

The shop said they didnt have the proper tools & it would be another day or two.

i wondered why they didnt tell me on Monday they didnt have the tools to fix a water pump?

After checking around other shops i found their price to be over market by approx $200.

I asked if i could pick up the car & have it repaired elsewhere, but they said it was all taken apart & unable to move.

Thursday i called for an update & they told me it "might" be done tomorrow.

"this happens sometimes"

SO, after waiting nearly a wk,

i got my car back, for $200 over the going rate.

when i asked about honoring competitor prices, i was told NO.

if i didnt pay their price i could go to court & they would keep my car.

all in all i feel i was mislead.

lied to. & taken advantage of.

i am new to the area & i wanted others to beware of these dishonest mechanics.

*also, i called Firestone district office to file a complaint, & was informed this shop is NOT an official Firestone repair shop.

Came in 5 mins prior to closing, the guys stayed and repaired my tire. Wil be back when I need service done on my car
