I wanted very much to refute joanna's review because Yen King is an excellent restaurant and the staff has always been polite to me. Then I saw that her review was written in 2008, before the first time I visited the restaurant. So I can't say she was wrong about the place back then, but I CAN say that it isn't like that NOW.

The food is GREAT! Their Mandarin soft-shelled crab is like nothing I've seen anywhere else. All the basics are done right as well, from Moo-Goo-Gai-Pan to Kung Pao Chicken. Very generous portions as well.

The atmosphere is also good. On a weekend night, you can count on Yen King to not be as crowded as other places, and even when it's full the lighting and decor tend to make people quieter.

Their prices are also good: 4 people can eat for $40-50 and if you come for lunch you can even get a decent meal for $5 a head. I always tip them generously.

All in all a gem of a restaurant, I highly recommend it.
