    Cute Place

    Provided by

We have enjoyed this restaurant for breakfast several times in the past year. Sometimes the wait is minimal and other times longer just depends on the timing especially on weekends. We love the food. Sometimes the service is great and other times terrible. Our favorite meal is the Monte Cristo French Toast. Large enough to share, though. My only negative comment is how loud it is. Hard to have conversation which seems to be a trend wherever we go these days. It's either the acoustics or the music being too loud. The idea of dining out with friends and family is to to eat the food but it's also to enjoy the embience and conversation. Sometimes that is difficult in this restaurant. That said, we will definitely return.

I don't know what some people are thinking

    Provided by

By no means am I professional diner, or would I call myself a foodie, but I what I like and know a good restaurant from a bad one. However, I recently chose to eat at cafe terracotta with my husband. And my experience was one of the best dinning experiences I have had. I had a cranberry feta salad which was phenominal. And my entree, scallops, were perfectly cooked. Overall the food was fantastic and the waitstaff was very attentive and selected a wine for us to enjoy that paired great with the food. I did read some of the reviews from this website before going to the cafe, and I have to say that my overall experience exceeded the comments of the other reviews. I can understand that sometimes a server or the restaurant can be off their game...and accidents happen and I don't get it when people complain about accidents and expect something free when not everything is perfect. I plan on going back to the cafe for some of my special events or a date night. It is worth a try for sure.

    Loved the food, but...

    Provided by

Had dined there for brunch before [outdoors in their nice garden patio area] and had a great salad with added grilled salmon (this was a bargain). So we tried dinner last weekend (indoors)... Nice old restored house but the brick walls and exposed ceiling are probably to blame for the very high noise level. Waiter was just ok - didn't know the wines very well - I had asked for a non-fruity dry white and got a fruit bomb that would have overpowered even the strongest cheese. There's no way it could have paired with fish dinners. Refused it and picked a decent one after sampling a couple of others that were already open (they serve some by the glass). Had the Sweet Chili Buffalo Calamari appetizer - best calamari I've ever had. It was great...! Sea bass and Cornmeal Crusted Walleye dinners were both very nice, fresh and nicely prep'd. Now back to the waiter... friendly, but inattentive. I can't count the number of times he passed our table after we'd finished our appetizer and salads and failed to bus the dishes (and he was empty-handed). The finale was when he came to serve complimentary champagne (nice offering for our special anniversary occasion) and he lost the whole tray and three of the glasses ended up in my lap. Of course he was most apologetic, but no one from the owner/manager staff paid us a visit, and the final statement can be found in the fact that no offer of a complimentary desert or discount to the bill was made. Guess these new owners still need to learn about customer service. I would have expected more from a chain restaurant, and even more from a small privately owned neighborhood joint. Wil probably try again because the food was good and reasonably priced. Maybe they'll get the service thing right next time.

very friendly service in old restored building

    Provided by

I visited for lunch today with a friend. The restaurant is in a lovely old home with exposed brick, beveled glass, high ceilings with exposed pipes. Maybe this leads to the very, very high noise level. Our waitress was terrific. My chicken salad sandwich came with cold hard toast, but inside the chicken chunks, white raisin, almond salad was very good with not too much mayo. The accompaning fries had been out of the fryer for a while. The burger my friend had was good and had been ordered by her on a previous visit. Probably will not return. Price for lunch items 8-10 dollars.

New owners and wait staff...worth checking out again.

I know for a fact the food is marvelous, and the wait staff was upgraded in July, 2008. The new Assistant Mgr. is very experienced not only in serving, but communicating with her customers.

Best place in the metro area

    Provided by

The new Executive Chef is a sure fit to this establishment. The food was excellent, if time permitted I would eat there everyday. The quality of the food that the Chef and his staff put on the plates is what the south metro area has been yearing for for years. The calamari was wonderful as well as the Chicken Wellington was superb. Wine selection was moderately priced with a good selection. The carrot cake for dessert was just like mom used to make. Then If you get lucky and he has time the Chef might even visit your table. That alone was a treat in itself. The wait staff were very friendly and courteous. Small rustic ambience adds to the entire experience.

Great food and service, charming place!

    Provided by

I went there for lunch the other day and was impressed. The location was nice, the garden outside was inviting and the interior was charming and rustic (red brick walls). The soup and salad were superb and the mango ceylon tea was refreshing! We were greeted upon entering and our server was attentive and nice. I'm eager to try out their brunch and dinner!

i went to terra cotta on a recommendation. the place looks super inviting and there is a genine boutique feel. this is a local family restaurant and people genuinely care. not only was the food better than i anticipated...it was borderline gourmet. the calamari is the best i've had in town and the salmon was perfect at chef's recommedation. they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. ever since our first vist, i have been going back at least once a week. i'm a regular and there a lot of us. quite...pleased...terp.

Best Calamari in Town and Exceptional Service

    Provided by

My wife and I have dined here 6-7 times this year and it has become one of our favorites. The ribeye is awesome with their special mac n cheese. The salmon has been exceptional every time. The calamari is amazing. I love the 1900's brick building, it is like nothing in Denver. The unique and charming atmosphere of this restaurant brings us back time and time again. Other reviewers must have dined on an off night. We've never had a less than perfect experience at Cafe TerraCotta.

    Poor service

    Provided by

Unfortunately will have to agree with previous review. The waitress was dismissive, as if we were unwelcomed guests. The same waitress got our order wrong during both our visits for brunch, and the food was not exceptional. I would not recommend this restaurant.

    Terrible experience

    Provided by

Had to wait forever, despite having reservation. Place was terribly loud. Waitress was nice enough but proceeded to pour four glasses of wine from $50 bottle without offering a taste. Wine had gone bad so we ordered another. Once again, she does not offer a taste! Second bottle was drinkable, so we went with it. My husband and I ordered smoked duck breast. There was no way it was duck. It tasted like canned ham or Polish sausage -- it didn't even have the texture of duck! We've had smoked duck many times in other Denver area restaurants so we know what it should be like. We tell waitress that it's gross. She comes back and tells us it's from Canada, like that's supposed to explain something. No apology from waitress. We stayed for dessert, which wasn't anything special. Bill was ridiculous for what was essential canned spam. Restaurant manager was snobbish and unprofessional, unapologetic over our meal, and just gave me a condescending smile when I suggested that his waitstaff be taught to pour a taste of wine before pouring all the glasses. Terrible place, and I'm shocked that so many people still go there -- do people not have taste buds? Don't go here -- you've been warned.
