General Info
Owner Operated Free Estimates When Clock Is Brought to My Shop Customer Satisfaction Is My Goal. All Work is Performed by a Certified Horologist. Clocks are an important part of people's lives. Many clock owners aren't aware that clocks need to be maintained and serviced every 3 years. Although loving and diligent care is given to the clock by their owners, many are not aware that dust accumulates in the oil that the clock requires in order to run smoothly. If the old oil and dust is not removed, the clock slows down, gums up and wears down the brass plates. The old dust acts as an abrasive on the brass. When the plates wear out, major restoration needs to be done. To eliminate this problem, cleaning and oiling of the clock should be maintained periodically. Grandfather clocks are cleaned and oiled in the customer's home when practical. Repairs are done in my shop.

Marilyn fixed 3 antique clocks that I thought I would never hear again. One is a schoolhouse clock which "dings" on the hour; a Kienzle Mantle clock with Westminster chimes from the 1920s and a Junghans Novelty Owl clock, also from the 1920s, whose eyes move back and forth. I had brought them elsewhere for repair about 10 years ago and after waiting over a year to get them back AND after paying a fortune for repair, the Kienzle was running too fast, the second time I went to wind the owl something happened with the mainspring and the schoolhouse clock stopped the night I brought it home never to start again. I am so glad I found Marilyn! She had the clocks for a couple of months, charged 1/2 of what I paid 10 years ago and the best part is that the two have their voices back and the little owls eyes are going back and forth....they are my home's heartbeat and I am thrilled I found Marilyn! Thank you, Marilyn!

A spring driven Vienna Regulator we bought when first married 53 years ago, worked until the last five years. We have had it repaired multiple times and it ultimately fails again and again. Some repairs have added to the damage. We finally contacted Marilyn and went in person to meet her. She was beyond our expectations, was articulate, explained detailing the issues, great person to work with. We were told it would take quite a few months, to be accurate 3, before she would be confident the issues were solved. She would not return the clock until her repairs and calibrations were consistent in functionally operating over her time frame. She is my go to Horologist Expert for clockwork for myself and clients I have who own antique clocks. msid Bayside Ny

We inherited 2 clocks from our deceased parents that were over 50 years old., One was a Black Forest 1 day chain movement cuckoo clock that needed new movements. When we got that one back is was perfect. The other was an older German Wall Clock that needed lots of work and tender loving care. It took a while to get it back but Marilyn does not want to return clocks unless they are running perfectly. It now has new main springs, bushings and a new specially made gear. Marilyn was so helpful in explaining how this clock works, how to wind it and how often as we were not familiar with this very old clock. It is now home and runs very well. We are so grateful to have found someone as talented and caring to fix our clocks. Marilyn also said if we ran into any problem with how to wind it or had any questions to reach out to her for assistance. We would highly recommend The Clock Lady if you have clocks that you care about and need some TLC to call Marilyn. She is excellent!

Called Marilyn in a panic about my fiancées clock that was broken by a contractor during construction. I explained how special and expensive this clock was to her, and that I really needed back in a week before our wedding! She was kind and empathetic on the phone and understood my predicament. I met up with her and gave her my clock , the moment I met her I knew I was in good hands. She not only got it back to me in less time but also went the extra mile and fix other things and gave it a cleaning unexpectedly. It is great to know their are still wonderful people out there like Marilyn!

I was so lost when inherited my grandmother clock. This clock has been around for over 55 years. Its made of glass and shape like a fan. It weights about 20 lbs. I tried everything to get it to tic again. It wall hung. I called other places which were like bring it in for a free est. I knew it was all about the money. When I called the clock lady she knew and reassured me that she will get it fixed. I brought it to her and she came out side so I didn't have to lift the clock and fixed it replaced the box.right there plus , on her own she put a little TLC like a seconds hand just to make it look more special. She is the best and very caring. Def will keep her #.

I called The Clock Lady on the chance that she could replace the dead electric motor on my wood-framed, embroidered wall clock and reset and restore the resonance of the dragging chimes on my Seth Thomas mantel clock. When I told her I lived in Islip she said she was going “out east” the next day and could stop by. She came to my house, replaced the electric motor with a battery-operated movement, spent some time on the Seth Thomas and left it chiming correctly and as deeply as it had when it was new, 60 years ago. Marilyn, you are the best!

Marilyn is terrific! Found her on Angie's list and then on YP. Spoke to her on the phone she suggested a couple of things to get my 34 year old grandfather clock going. She was at the house today and realized the the movement needed to be replaced. She had brought a used one, newer than mine and it fit perfectly. She spent 3 hours and was totally fair in her price. The clock is now working and I am so appreciative of her craft. I would highly recommend her if you need work done. Thanks a million Marilyn!

I had asked The Clock Lady to come to my home to repair my English longcase clock (from about 1710). My movers managed to damage it and the pendulum could no longer hang from the clock. Marilyn came out, full of confidence, and was able to restore the piece broken off from the pendulum, plus she cleaned and oiled the clock so that it's running better than ever. She spent extra time making sure it was running properly and keeping good time. I asked her if she had time to look at two other smaller antique clocks I had (which hadn't worked in years). She went right to work, and both clocks are now running happily and accurately. Her charge was extremely fair, and I am delighted to have my 3 antique clocks all working properly -- I will have her come back periodically for routine cleaning and oiling and regulating, and I can unconditionally recommend her for any clock job, big or small. She is efficient and cheerful and really knows her business!

Our family's 1973-vintage Ridgeway grandfather clock had not worked in decades. One of the chains had broken and a weight had fallen and broken out the bottom of the clock case, We recently had it moved and in the process its pendulum and weights were removed. We called Marilyn just to put it back together; instead she was able to clean, oil and get it working again! It's wonderful to know that there is someone who can still do this kind of craft.

cuckoo clock repair

I found that the Clock Lady was fair, honest and stands 100% behind her work.
She is knowledgeable about cuckoo clocks as well as other clocks. It was explained to me what needed to be done, why it needed to be done and the best way to repair the clock. I felt at ease with her knowledge and left the clock for repair. When it was done I was very happy with the service and the price. The clock has been running without problems.
I recommend this business and the service performed.

Marilyn made a house visit to tune, clean and oil an antique grandfather clock we recently purchased. She did a great job. The clock runs and sounds beautiful. She is knowledgeable, pleasant and I never thought she pressured us into doing more than was presently needed. I highly recommend her services.

Marilyn came to our house to fix our Grandfather Clock. We had it repaired once before by another person who wound up doing more damage to the clock. She was able to repair all the damage and followed up the next couple of days to ensure there were no other problems. She is professional and reasonably priced. I highly recommend The Clock Lady.

I have an heirloom mantel clock that my parents gave me years ago. I took it to a local shop and the clock would not run after a supposed overhaul. I took it to the Clock Lady and not only did she do a great job but she gave me a guarantee, I highly recommend her services.

This business woman is highly competent and honest, and in addition to replacing the movement could have inflated the repair cost by installing new glass.Instead she managed to remove the hideous paint on the existing glass placed there to hide damage incurred during a repair by another "Big Name" company in Nassau County.
