NGAS Resources is an Appalachian-based oil and gas exploration and development company. It specializes in low-risk development drilling in the southern portion of the Appalachian Basin. Headquartered in Lexington, Ky., NGAS owns interests in nearly 600 wells and controls more than 250,000 acres in eastern Kentucky. In order to move its gas to market, it owns more than 170 miles of natural gas gathering pipelines. Assets also include two natural gas utilities where its subsidiary, Sentra Corporation, retails natural gas in southern Kentucky. Daugherty Petroleum is a wholly owned subsidiary of NGAS. Founded in 1984, it sponsors drilling partnerships on prospects that the company develops. Since 1996, DPI has sponsored nearly 25 natural gas drilling partnerships. In 2004, DPI sponsored two partnerships that funded 70 percent of nearly 140 wells. NGAS Resources is a publicly owned company that employs nearly 65 people.
