Consider haircare an investment? Voce, then, should top your list. Recognizing that not everyone requires precision cuts, deep knowledge of color science and a roadmap for maintenance, there are options in this town. If you fall into the high mainteance category, as do I, Voce is a great choice. Comments posted here about the wait are surprising, as I've never experienced this. In fact, I've sometimes shown up early -- nearly an hour, in a couple of instances, taking my chances -- and was fitted in. When owner Micky Binion saw how often I would need color, he suggested pairing with one of his colorists/stylists, saving me half of what I would be charged if saw him every visit. The only thing I would change -- and this is an observation of Lexington-based salons in general -- is to develop a competitive advantage and provide an early weekday morning option. Professionals would welcome at least a shampoo/blowout during a weekday, getting us to the office looking like a million bucks. Think Capitol Hill. Think of clientele that bows not to Pure Barre, but to the boardroom. A 6 a.m. slot would be ideal. Voce does offer Sunday hours, a definite plus and an option I use on a regular basis.

Here's the deal. Nice store front, but inside is just mediocre. Nothing fancy at all. That being said they are cheaper than where I usually go. My daughter lives in Lexington, so when I came to visit her, this is where I went, due to location convenience. Normally, when I have my nails done, they put some nice little marble like stones in a bowl and put the remover in there for me to soak my nails in. Club nails just had some plastic containers with the remover in them (like what you would purchase at the drug stone with the sponge in it), and had me put my nails in there. That was kinda wierd to me cause I was thinking, "do they use these over and over for different people"? How sanitary is that? She didn't hardly use any tools to remove (I have gel nails, not acrylic) the old, mostly her fingernail. Again, wierd to me. But.....she got the job done. She was super fast and my nails looked fine when I left. They lasted only a tiny bit less time before needing to have them redone than where I usually go. The price however, was about half of what I normally pay. So.....basically, nothing luxurious or relaxing, but they get the job done for about half the price.
I first went to Posh because my normal salon had botched some highlights and were not willing to work with me on getting me back in to fix the problem. Posh had an opening that evening with Jennifer. It. Was. Amazing. Jennifer is a master stylist so she charges quite a bit, but I believe that you get what you pay for and she is worth every penny. There are other stylists in all levels of the field, so you would be able to find someone that doesn't charge as much if that's an issue. The staff is friendly (from my experiences, even when I was running 5 minutes behind schedule), and the salon is very open, but inviting. All of the staff seems to get along and I think that sets a good environment for customers to enter into, instead of a place where no one gets along and they're being catty. They do like to "strongly recommend" products to purchase, but they don't get defensive and weird when you don't want to spend another $75 on shampoo. Even though I regularly go to Jennifer, I would feel comfortable having anyone else in that salon cut my hair.

Seriously now a days it's so hard to find a great hair stylist! I'm so excited that I finally did ! My best friend referred me to Lyndsey after she did an AMAZING job fixing my friend's bad box hair dye job! I waited probably a total 3 minutes before she came and got me. She listened to what I wanted and executed it better than I originally imagined it. She's young but seriously one of the best stylist I have ever had ever been to. Another thing is she explained to me every product she used! I hate when stylist spray a whole bunch of crap in your hair and don't even tell you what it's for! I left the salon feeling amazing with a new look and a new attitude! The salon had awesome, clean & fun atmosphere with some great upbeat music playing. The prices were very reasonable! I love Planet!!
I have lived in Lexington my whole life and recently have been jumping around to different stylists. The last place I went to honestly was terrible and I am so glad this place was great. I called ahead of time to check prices and they weren't too ridiculous. The receptionist (who was very helpful) let me know they accept walk ins... so I walked in. Suzie was my stylus and she listened very well to what I wanted and even looked at a picture that I was using as a reference. Suzie was extremely nice and explained everything she was doing as she went along. I will definitely be going back and look forward to it. My experience was so good that I told all my friends about it before I could write this review haha. Hope this helps someone.
I love this place! I like the location, right off Man of War and when I get done getting my hair styled I can go grocery shopping at the Wal-Mart. The folks at the shop are all so nice and talented too. My favorite is Amy, she owns the shop, but everybody does such great hair that even a person who just walks in will get a great cut and styling. My sister loves going there too. She lives out of town but drives in to Lexington just to get Amy to do her hair. She likes the color of her hair too. Highlights, lowlights, and she gets loads of compliments. If you've just moved to town or if you are just ready for a change, call this place up. I think you'll love it.
Just went to nice nails yesterday. I moved in about a month ago and was skeptical to try a new nail place because I only trust clean salons, but it was clear that nice nails is one of these places! I watched my technician open new utensils, and the host up front cleaned the pedicure bowl before someone sat down. The tech was great at taking off my acrylics and I love how she shaped my natural nails! My nails were super thin from months of acrylics but she made my nails look awesome. I will definitely be returning to this salon!!
Working in the industry I know quality service when I see it and receive it. I was very impressed with the Shellac manicure treatment I received by my tech. She took her time and was very precise with my service. My nails were shaped and cleaned thoroughly. She gave a lot of attention to detail. I waited to write the review because I wanted to see if they did last as long as said and THEY DID!!! My nails looked great and I recieved complements up until I removed them. I'll be back!
After a big mistake while bleaching my own hair I went to Planet Salon to have it fixed. Leah was my stylist and she was GREAT! My cut turned out exactly how I wanted it and she worked some serious magic on my orange and yellow head of hair. I need to go back one more time for some more toning and I defintily plan to go to Leah again. She's fabulous! I recommend her highly. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars simply because the music drove me crazy. Tina Turner and Justin Beiber?! Ah....
