Wife and I ate here first time today. Walked in to see two large menu boards...better decide your meal from these the smaller menu board ahead waist high at the cashier is dark and hard to read. We ordered the 3 eggroll appetizer, the teriyaki with beef meal, the sesame seed with chicken meal and two sweet and sour soups. You pay ahead and get a number you place on a holder at the table for the food to be delivered by. Make sure you get your glass at this time (we didn't), you get your own drinks and silverware etc at this time. We sat at a higher half booth-half chairs type of table on the booth side in a clean, comfortable environment but not roomy. In a few minutes our soups were delivered. The soups were at a good hot temperature served with soup ladle type spoons. The taste was almost unpleasant for both of us and we were looking forward to a good soup. After a few spoonfuls I took it back to the counter and asked if I could try a little of another soup...sorry I don't know what type it was but I could not eat it either. About a couple of minutes after our soups were delivered our appetizer (egg rolls) and two main courses were delivered at the same time without any word from the server. Fortunately this part of the meal was fairly good...nothing to write home about though.
I thought the food was actually pretty good here. My husband ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken dinner platter which came with fried rice and an egg roll and I ordered the Chicken Egg Foo Young as well as an appetizer of the crab Rangoon. I am about the pickiest person in the world when it comes to crab Rangoon and I thought that it was pretty good. It had a different texture to it than others that I have tried and the sauce was good. The egg foo young was quite good but they were a bit stingy with the sauce that goes on top of it.My husband really likes the sweet and sour chicken and feels that the amount of food that you get for the money. The food has always been more that sufficiently hot and when having our order delivered, the delivery has been within what I feel is a reasonable amount of time. Before trying Asian Cafe I ordered food from the Shanghai Bistro in Tates Creek Center on the recommendation of some friends. I much prefer Asian Cafe over Shanghai Bistro and have eaten WAY to much Chinese food since ordering food here for the first time.
