Willow Ridge Apartments

WARNING: DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS BARRIO!!!!
I signed a 7 month lease (shortest they offer) to live at Willow Ridge Apartments in Lewisville TX because I had waited until the last minute and when I decided to try to renew my lease at The Residences at Starwood (Frisco, TX) my apt. had already been rented out. I called over 30 places that day and every one of them was filled and I had to be out in less than 2 weeks because of the end of the lease coinciding with my vacation. I called them and they said they had only 2 vacancies available so I came to check them out on my lunch break and applied that same day. I figured 7 mos. wouldn’t be that bad. It would give me time to look elsewhere. That was my first mistake!
My first visit was obviously done when all the kids were at school and ground maintenance was just done because the place has been disgusting ever since. We are charged an $11 trash fee every month and the trash cans are always filled so residents just dump their trash on the ground. The place constantly reeks of trash and pee!!! The kids in the complex are responsible for a good chunk of the trash that’s thrown everywhere but the ADULTS are even worse. Cigarette buds and beer bottles litter the complex weekly and I just don’t understand why. What adult would want to live in a pigsty?!? This is by far the worst living experience I have had in my entire life and I’m literally counting down the days until I am able to move out (Dec.).
My apartment had a leak upon move in and my bedroom floors were soaked wet my first night there (this went on for over a month and led to MOLD & gnats), I encountered baby roaches upon move-in and I have been battling them ever since, the AC is broken and the vent doesn’t work in the bedroom so in an effort to keep cool my electricity bill has almost doubled, the cabinetry/appliances throughout the apt. are from the 1980’s, the apt. was visibly dirty upon move in and they just painted the bathroom tub/sink to cover up how old and gross it was (which started peeling within 3 days), the apt didn’t match the layout that I was promised, every month you will be hit with a mystery charge and last week they decided that they would no longer accept money orders so residences will be forced to pay an additional $4 a month to pay their rent. THE MANAGEMT AND OFFICE STAFF ARE A COMPLETE JOKE. It took over a month for me to get shelves for the refrigerator/oven because they were missing (and I still don’t have freezer shelves) and my AC is STILL broken.
But on the Brightside, this is a great place to live if you want to witness drug deals, enjoy not having a place for your guest to park or overpaying to stay in a place that feels like a third world resort.
