Our veterinary technicians and doctors, with the aid of general anesthesia, can perform ultrasonic cleaning and polishing that will keep your petâ€™s mouth in good health. We take digital dental radiographs, measure periodontal pockets, clean well under gum lines, and other dental therapies to help fight tooth and gum disease. Dental cleanings will require that your pet stay with us for the day. We believe the benefit to good oral health far outweighs the risk concerning anesthesia, age, and cost. Animals whose teeth are cleaned regularly (every 1 to 2 years) have a longer, happier, and healthier life. As a service to our existing patients, we offer complimentary dental exams when requested.

Much of our well puppy care is scheduled to coincide with the recommended dates for vaccinations.

The flea that inhabits dogs, cats, raccoons, opossums, and foxes is the cat species flea. These fleas would dearly love to reside on a cat! If your cat does go out on the stoop, screened in porch, back deck or garden, yes we do recommend flea control. Even if they go out rarely just to take a nibble of grass.
Pain Management
Our surgical suite consists of gas anesthetic machines, EKG, pulse oximeter, blood pressure monitoring, and warm water circulating blanket. A veterinary technician and a veterinary assistant are assigned to each surgical patient to assist the doctor during anesthesia, surgery, and recovery. Post-operative pain management is incorporated into every surgical patientâ€™s treatment plan. The utmost care is taken to provide each patient with sterile, skilled, and compassionate surgery.

Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
Regular shampooing is an important part of skin and coat care. We recommend you bathe them not more than once a week and not less than once every two months, dependent on your puppy's environment.

Exam, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis and Rabies, +/- fecal antigen testing. heartworm and flea prevention selected.
Parvovirus Infection Treatment
Annual examination, fecal examination, heartworm and tick screen, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, and Rabies; Repeat Annually.
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
Maternal antibodies gradually decrease during the first few months of the kitten's life. That's why kittens are given a series of vaccinations every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age. Prior to Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) vaccination, your kitten will be tested for Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. FeLV has the highest risk of exposure compared to all other viral diseases in cats.

Veterinary Surgery
Dr. Shana Stelzer graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She worked as an associate veterinarian in Kansas City for 5 years then as a relief veterinarian in the Greater Kansas City Metro for 7 years. She is a member of the AVMA and KCVMA. Dr. Stelzer practices compassionate, caring veterinary medicine. Dr. Stelzer has a special interest in dermatology, dentistry, and soft-tissue surgery.
Spaying and Neutering
We strongly encourage spaying (female) or neutering (male). This procedure is normally performed at 6 months of age prior to the onset of puberty. The benefits of sterilization include a dramatic decrease in breast cancer and testicular cancer late in life, preventing an unwanted litter of puppies, preventing life-threatening uterine infections in older females, and decreasing sexual activities in males such as marking with urine, humping, and aggressiveness.

Laboratory Services
Your pet will likely experience an illness or injury sometime in their active life. Many illnesses can be handled as an outpatient appointment. These patients are assessed on physical examination with your history of concerns and symptoms. We may need to consider some routine lab testing with blood, urine, or stool tests. A treatment plan will be developed and reviewed and in most cases, you and your pet will return home with medications, special diet, and specific instructions to follow.

Office assistants are very friendly and overall the facility is very welcoming

Professional grooming services are part of our complete health program. Our staff groomers work with all breeds, providing clipping, bathing, nail trims, ear cleaning, and comb-outs. Sending animals home that look great on the outside and are healthy on the inside is our goal.
