Bracker's Good Earth Clays, Inc. strives to offer a wide variety of pottery wheels, kilns and other ceramics equipment; moist clay and dry clay from the region and worldwide; pug mills and clay mixers; studio equipment like slab rollers, extruders, ware carts, cabinets, and glaze chemical bins, sink traps, spray booths and spray guns, glaze mixers, sieves, scales, banding wheels and turntables, and Giffin Grips; slump molds, hump molds, texture molds, and sprig molds; glaze chemicals; and potter's tools and toys for anyone interested in ceramics and sculpture. Bracker's sells pottery supplies to schools, university art departments, art centers, potters, handbuilders, sculptors, slipcasters, ceramicists, and students. Owned and operated by the Bracker family since 1982. Our equipment repair tech, David Sturm, has nearly two decades of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing dozens of different brands of electric kilns, propane kilns, and natural gas kilns, alternative firing kilns, potter's wheels, pugmills, clay mixers, slabrollers, and extruders. He holds multiple certifications in ceramic equipment repair and has completed both formal and informal onsite training at manufacturers including Alpine Kilns, American Art Clay Company (AMACO) and Brent, L&L Kiln Manufacturing, Paragon Kilns, and Skutt Ceramic Products. David is trusted not only by school districts and universities to maintain their equipment, he is also held in the highest esteem by the major manufacturers in our industry. His training and many years of experience save time and money for the potter's pocketbook or the teacher's budget. Widely known as "Kilndoc," David's expertise does not end with kilns. Bracker's holds a variety of in-service opportunities and workshops for professional development at onsite in a school district or at Bracker's warehouse. Bracker's staff can provide continuing education for K-12 teachers on several existing topics (the basics like how to fire a kiln, ceramics 101, and lesson plans that integrate and address several national visual arts standards), or tailor a custom professional development session for the needs of a specific school district. Schools can also arrange for a low-cost raku experience for students at the school site or at Bracker's warehouse in Lawrence, Kansas.

Bracker's Good Earth Clays offers educational opportunities for beginning potters and continuing education for experienced ceramic artists, K-12 art teachers, ceramics professors, and art center instructors. Our free Second Saturdays Artist Series features once-a-month demonstrations from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm by local and regional clay artists who throw on a potters wheel, use a slab roller or extruder to create handbuilt art, sculptors who mold and form with their hands, artists who press clay or pour casting slip into plaster molds, and use a wide variety of surface decoration techniques to apply colored slips, underglazes, and glazes by spraying, brushing, dipping, or pouring. From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm once a month, Bracker's opens up the studio space for Third Thursdays to allow anyone to use the pottery equipment in the warehouse studio, test drive the latest pottery tools Bracker's is considering for future sales, try out a new technique on the pottery wheel, or practice an unfamiliar way to make pots with your hands. Bracker's staff members and other potters are always available to answer questions or just enjoy the camaraderie and company with fellow clay artists. Two or three times per year, Bracker's holds two day paid weekend workshops by expert ceramic artists from across the world. Bracker's workshops feature intensive demonstrations and hands-on opportunities to learn from an artist who has mastered their work with clay.
