I haven't adopted an animal from Lied (I will be soon). After reading these comments and having volunteered at an animal shelter before relocating to Vegas, I felt the need to post. You may not like the fact this is a 'will kill' shelter. HOWEVER, rating it as a 1 star, will only drive people away from this shelter, thereby killing even more animals and that blood is on the hands of the people who are posting negative comments only because the shelter uses euthanization. Encourage people to go to Lied FIRST, because they DO euthanize. If you do not find a compatible partner at Lied, THEN go to a no-kill shelter where the animal will remain until adopted. Going to the no-kill shelters first, runs the risk of the 'perfect companion' being destroyed before you even get the chance to meet. If you need to part with a family pet, I strongly urge you to surrender them to the no-kill shelters and give a sizable contribution to help maintain the animal until adopted. AVOID using Lied and any other 'will kill' shelters at all costs, because they will euthanize any animal once their time is up - no matter how sweet and lovable.

How sad that people feel the need to vent there personal work house arguments as a review of the establishment as a whole. I have been there several times and have never and i repeat NEVER seen any animals being mistreated. To the contrary. I finally adopted a pet yesterday when the right animal came to us. There knowledge of the animal i adopted was full. They could tell me his likes and dislikes ect. you can not receive this kind of info from someone who does not care for there job. As said in a statement above mine if you want to save a life you should go there. I went to save a life and find a loving companion for me and my family i recomend anyone to do the same. Please do not be persuaded by school house childishness.
Yes, it's true Lied animal shelter has screwed-up in the past. But, don't take out your anger out on the animals by saying not to adopt from them. Homeless pets are homeless pets and shouldn't be left out because you didn't like management. I have a beautiful cat that I rescued from them 7 years ago that I love very much. I have planned to get my son a new dog from them this Christmas. They probably needed the money due to our failing economy they have received many more people giving-up their pets. Take your anger out on the people who gave them up not the shelter. After all they are trying to help homeless pets, are you?
