Excellent Food Every time!

We go to Las Vegas 2-3 times a year and usually stay at the MGM. The food at Pearl is wonderful! We can recommend for an appetizer the Dungeness Crab Spring Rolls. The are light and delicious! The best ever is the Almond Chicken for an Entree'. Ohhhh, we dream of it when we come back home and can't wait to go back and eat it again! Also, we love the Shrimp and Pork Rice. It is so good. It is on the expensive side, but expect it for a wonderful meal! Amy

Great food, amazing atmosphere

This place has the best atmosphere out of all the restaurants I have been to in Vegas. The food was good...HOWEVER, my boyfriend and I did the hibachi thinking because we were in Vegas, it would be the best hibachi show we had ever seen. Instead it was by far the worst performance, and I was very let down. The guy didn't speak to us, nor did he light a single thing on fire - he just simply cooked the food in front of us. The food was so good though, that I would recommend this place...just don't expect to be amazed by the hibachi.

Best Seafood restaraunt ever!

I am not sure I have ever done this in my life but after I finished my main course I walked up to the chef and told him this was the best meal I had ever had.. Food is spectacular... Huge wine list... Try the bacon wrapped chilean sea bass... I ate at RM Seafood the night before in the Mandalay Bay and this blew it away... MGM is a dump...

I've had better Sushi at Whole Foods

We'd read some wonderful reviews on this restaurant on a different site, which was why we chose to come here. We love Sushi, being fans of Takashi's in Salt Lake City, Fuki Sushi in Palo Alto, CA (most of the time), and Yoshi's in San Francisco, so we've got some decent Sushi experience under our belts. When it came to Shibuya, I have had better sushi at Whole Foods. Their Kampachi and Hamachi were flavorless, their Salmon tasted soapy, and their Rock and Roll hand roll had barbs. We ordered the vegetable tempura which was fair at best. Another appetizer my husband had was actually decent once he decided to eat half of them instead of the whole piece (they added a RIDICULOUS amount of rice to it). I agree with other posters that the portions were small on the whole. As for the ambiance: Interesting design and color scheme made it fun to look around and appreciate the design. However, it was also FREEZING in the restaurant, and it was so loud our ears were ringing when we left. With 5 industrial cooking fans in the main dining area, it is no wonder. There is little opportunity to talk because the tables for 2 are quite long and there are no walls or partitions between any of the tables. Service was decent, but we paid $180 for our meal (which was ridiculous and so surreal we were just flabbergasted that we were charged so much for such sub par food) and we felt genuinely robbed. I would completely avoid this location if you want sushi while in Vegas. Try ""Yellow tail"" in the Bellagio instead - at the very least you'll be able to hear each other while you talk. We will NEVER eat here again. 2 stars.

Not impresssed

My husband really wanted to go to this restaurant. So when I called to make reservations, I was informed that there was a dress code. We really dressed up and looked nice. When we got there, we were told we'd have to wait a few minutes (it wasnt quite 530 and they dont start serving dinner until 530) so we waited nearby. Right after we checked in, this family who were dressed sloppily walks up and says they have reservations for 530. They were seated immediately and we were STILL waiting! Why were they seated before 530 and we had to wait?! Then we were seated next to a family with a screaming baby-oh great! I love ear piercing noises when I want to enjoy a nice meal.
The food was mediocre, not great. It certainly wasn't worth $45 per person!

Worth It

My boyfriend and I ate here for his birthday last year in August. We were staying at the MGM and were early for our reservation. Within a few minutes we were sat at a table. The server was very polite and friendly. We ordered the summer tasting tasting menu that changes every season and every course as served family style. For the first course we had grilled quail, roasted red peppers, and a cucumber salad. All were simple and tasty. For the main we had grilled filet, roasted chicken, and diver scallops plus sides. We ordered the steak rare and it came out perfect. The steak came out sliced, it was seasoned well, and cut like butter. The roasted chicken was delicious and moist; the scallops were cooked well. As sides we had the potato puree, sauteed corn, and roasted mushrooms; all of which were excellent. The dessert was chef's choice. We had bread pudding and a berry crisp with vanilla ice cream. There was definitely a lot of food and the tasting menu was only $65 per person (and only $30 more per person for wine pairings for each course). The whole experience was pleasant. The service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and knowledgable. I have definitely recommended this place to friends and family.

My husband and I ate here on our wedding night (2/29/08). We didn't read any reviews before going here. In fact, we had never heard of the place before. We were staying at the MGM and wanted steaks, so we headed here. We didn't have reservations but were lucky enough to have been seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The atmosphere was very nice... dim lighting, romantic music softly playing in background, and somewhat private booths. We shared the porterhouse steak (one of our favorite cuts), friscee salad, and fingerling potatoes. The salad was served with large bits of bacon and warm dressing and tasted amazing. The steak comes to the table on a single plate for sharing as well as the potatoes. To our surprise, the steak was already sliced and put back together like a puzzle. It was seasoned just right and was unbelievably juicy. The potatoes were sooo good. I usually add salt and pepper to potatoes, but these were so good I didn't want to mess them up with over salting. Interesting enough, there was no salt or pepper on the table or any other table for that matter! They really know how to season food at this place. The bearnaise sauce was the best I've ever had. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. It was the perfect compliment to the meal. By the end of the meal we were so full we didn't have room for dessert. Instead we relaxed at the table with our drinks for a bit while we waited for the bill. The total bill, including drinks came to under $200. It was an incredible meal, the perfect atmosphere, and great service. My husband and I plan to visit many other Vegas steakhouses in the future but this steakhouse will be very hard to top.
