Paymon's Mediterranean Cafe
Book a Table
- General Info:
- Founder Paymon Raouf opened the original location on Maryland Parkway (University District) in 1988 as a local deli featuring Middle Eastern food and beverages under the name Middle Eastern Bazaar. Several years later the name was changed to the Mediterranean Cafe to reflect the diversity of cuisines in the Mediterranean region. In 2002 the name was changed to Paymon's Mediterranean Cafe & Lounge. The final name change was due to branding the Paymon's name and to bring attention to it's full-service operation with the Hookah Lounge. In 2004 Paymon's opened it's second full-service location on West Sahara Avenue. The small neighborhood eatery evolved into one of the most highly awarded restaurants in Las Vegas. The evolution of this cafe and lounge saw a complete transition from a single-cuisine menu to a multiple cuisine format representing several countries within the Mediterranean region while reaching out to many of the vegetarian clientele. The menu focuses on Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern specialties though also offers several specialties from India. Paymon's is open for lunch, dinner and late night dining and uses only the freshest and finest ingredients. The use of zero trans fat oils, non-msg spices, natural preservatives, Certified Angus Beef etc. are all a testament to Paymon's philosophy of delivering the best dining experience. Paymon's also packages and sells a line of spices and its signature Racy Red hot sauce from it's very own spice company called the Spice Bazaar. The ambiance is warm, casual and fun. The Mediterranean art pieces and accessories adorn the walls to give the true feeling of being taken to another place. Both locations have a main dining room and outside patio which can accommodate approximately 150 guests at a time.

My best girlfriends and I go to Paymon's for Happy Hour and to smoke Hookah almost every Tuesday! The food is always super fresh, the service staff is wonderful (we will miss Brian from Colorado!), and we always have a great time! Great restaurant with multiple locations! Try the blackberry jasmine in your hooooookah!

They pack the tobacco too tightly so that your hookah does not last long enough(it\r
should last an hour if done right) and get upset when you let them know.\r
\r
The food is quite bad, french fries with curry powder, cold gyros, the kebabs are quite\r
small and the sides bland. This restaurant basically just tries to push a generic, \r
unauthentic taste of the Middle East. The food is too Americanized...

We live in Las Vegas and love Paymon's. The menu is so eclectic. Sometimes, my husband is in the mood for falafels and I can have a great eggplant parmigian! Everything I've had tastes really good. They have a lentil soup which is a great starter (we share ours)....the portions are fairly large and can be shared by 2 people. We love the falafel pitas, the eggplant parmigian, the lentil soup, all the salads and of course the Athens fries. The prices are fair (especially considering the portion sizes). \r
\r
The waitstaff are very pleasant and they go out of their way to help the customers out. I would recommend anyone who wants good, wholesome food to give Paymon's a try.

My husband and I think of Paymon's as our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The vibe is always nice and laid-back, service is great and always friendly, and the enclosed courtyard is a nice and sunny place to grab lunch. Every time we go for lunch, the place is packed... a great indicator of their quality. We are both in love with the lentil soup, but my husband is a huge fan of the chicken parm, as well, and as stated in another review, the Athens fries are ridiculously good. I definitely recommend it!

I go to Paymons Restaurant very often, the food is like homemade and the service is great but I didn't know they also sold spices on line. My wife, she is American, ordered the SPICE BAZAAR JERICHO FALAFEL SPICE, it was awesome. It was like my mom's. It brough back a lot of memories from the good old times back home. THANKS PAYMONS.\r
\r
This is where she ordered it from: spicebazaar

I work near Paymon's and we probably order take-out or catering from here 5-8 times a month. Before I ate there, my coworkers said their Athen style fries were addicting and now I know why! Hummus is awesome, falafel sanwiches are tasty, and the baklava isn't too sweet like you get at other places. I highly recommend this place.

Funky romantic lively hip atmostphere with adjacent market and hookah lounge. Bustling at lunch yet the service was outstanding and we had hardly a wait.\r
\r
The food was simply delicious. They serve a wide variety of Med food, including Persian (fesenjan), Lebanese/Mid Eastern (hummus, falafel), Greek (salads, gyros), salads, etc. We had a huge lunch for 4 - drinks, etc - and spent about $60 all in. Everything was terrific.\r
\r
Easy parking too!\r
\r
Would highly recommend this to all Med foodies.

This place was amazing! My husband and I went here for dinner a week ago and were so impressed with the ambience in the courtyard. The cocktails were excellent and our waitor attentive. I had the gyro salad (which was fabulous-great dressing and very tasty lamb), My husband had the lamb skewers with roasted vegetables. The portions were huge and we both had to take home leftover which I couldn't wait to eat the next day. Great place! Also, the hookah lounge looked pretty cool but didn't have time to stay...next time!
