If there was a negative star rating available, I would have chosen that. Dr.McFillin is cruel and should not treat animals. She is inhumane. We had to have our 14 yr old pug put to sleep and she made a very sad time a horrible nightmare. She was rough with him, she did not administer the proper dose and left the room for several minutes with my dog gasping for air in my arms. We didn't even get a condolence card. Absolutely awful. If you love your pet, go elsewhere.

I am incredibly disappointed in the service we received at Durango Animal Hospital and I would advise anyone thinking about leaving their pet at this place for boarding to read this review!

My husband and I recently left our puppy for boarding in their "luxury boarding" for 3 nights. While everything about the luxury boarding looked great online, the reality was very different. We trusted Durango Animal Hospital to look after and take care of our puppy, but the reality seems to be the complete opposite.

When I picked up my puppy on monday morning, he reeked of urine and feces. Not only that, all of his things (his bed, toys, food bowl, even his bag of treats) all reeked of the smell of urine and feces. My puppy was incredibly sad and skittish, and it seemed as though he had just been locked up in a little room all weekend. He would not eat and he even had diarrhea for two days after we picked him up. Our puppy was clearly not himself, and had clearly not been treated well at all. I had to wash all of his toys and even his bed which completely ruined it.

My husband and I were so disturbed, we contacted Durango Animal Hospital on monday in order to speak with the manager to let her know of our complaints and to demand a refund. We were told the manager was no longer in the office and would call us back on tuesday. Come tuesday, still no call. We called back and were told she was at lunch and to call back in an hour. We called back in an hour and were told that she had gone home for the day. How incredibly unprofessional! We were then told that she would finally be calling us on wednesday.

And so comes wednesday morning, the manager Jessica finally called back my husband. While my husband relayed his dissatisfaction with their service and demanded a refund, Jessica said that the only thing she could do was offer our puppy a free nail trim or a free bath. Why in the world would we ever trust this place or this staff with our puppy again? She refused to give us a refund and went on to read "boarding reports" to my husband, letting him know that our dog was fed and taken care of. Then why would he not eat for days after coming back home? Then why would he reek of urine? Why would he absolutely not be himself?

We take incredibly good care of our puppy and have boarded him at other places before, but never have we gotten our puppy back in the condition that we did after leaving him at Durango Animal Hospital. We wanted people considering boarding their pets here to know how our puppy was actually treated at this place, and to know how incredibly unprofessional and unsympathetic the staff and the manager were.

So furious right now. This is a "review" I just posted to the page of what I thought was going to be our regular vet here in Vegas.

I first came to Durango Animal Hospital (https://www.facebook.com/DurangoAH?ref=ts&fref=ts) in October 2014 for my lil Bengal girl. She had what looked to be an abscess on her face and was in an extreme amount of pain. They pulled some infected teeth, gave her some antibiotics and told us she would be fine. 30 days later (November 2014), we were back in their office for the exact same abscess! They put a small drainage hole in the side of her face, took a sample of the infection to be analyzed to supposedly find the exact antibiotic to use, and sent her home. A couple days later, we were in their office AGAIN. This time with our other Bengal. For the same swollen abscess! The Doctor assumed that the two had gotten in a fight so again a drain was put in place, antibiotics were given (before the analysis from the sample was received), pain meds were dispensed and she was sent home. We had to make a payment arrangement as we had already paid close to $1000 in 30 days for this same problem. Guess what? 30 days later (December 2014) it appeared for a third time. Called Durango Animal Hospital and know what they told us? Because we have an outstanding balance they refused to treat her again. How can they do that?! They have now been paid close to $1200 for two cats, for the same infection, and they are still sick!!! They told my husband to put a warm compress on her face to draw out the infection (the drainage hole they had placed in her face hadn't even finished healing yet so the infection burst through). Today I used a warm compress on her face and this time a huge chunk of skin came off her face! It literally looks as though this infection is eating her skin away. My other Bengal also looks as though the infection is coming back and her face is swelling up. I will be making them an appointment with another vet as it is perfectly clear that Durango Animal Hospital is more interested in making money off their patients with repeat visits for the same problem than they are with actually helping an obviously sick animal.

Very disappointing visit. We have been going here for years and like the doctors. Today one of the girls in the front area was so rude and condescending to my husband and me. We will be finding a new animal hospital now. Business sure must be good because they didn't seem to care to be losing customers due to poor customer service. I'm sure the doctors won't even know how rudely some of the staff talks to customers.

Durango Animal Hospital deserv...

Durango Animal Hospital deserves an "Outstanding Award for Excellence in Pet Care." I have been a pet owner for over 50 years and my pets have never experienced such personal care as provided by the staff and doctors at Durango Animal Hospital. The staff is compassionate, friendly and committed to providing outstanding personalized pet care.

When my beloved dog of thirteen years was diagnosed with cancer, Dr. Chris communicated regularly with the oncologist and me about her progress and specialized care. He was always available to help me work through her illness and death. He and the veterinary team are the very best! I truly appreciate their commitment to providing the best of care and understanding to all of us.

Dr B and the staff at Durango Animal Hospital are wonderful. My dogs get very good treatment and I ALWAYS get a follow-up call (or more) re: my pets. I am kept informed every step of the way and even receive progree phone call if my pet is very sick. Staff are friendly and kind.

Agreed

Dr. B also saved my dog when she went into shock. However, for over a year now they kept doing test on my other dog for cancer. Did not detect it. We took it to the Specialist on Trop/Durango. Where he was diagnosed with cancer and has had it along. They are surprised he's lived this long. We will have to put him down tomorrow due to the cancer. If this was diagnosed a year ago something could of been done. Dr. B also misdiagnosed my other dog which has skin cancer all over her. He said one of them was a wort. It's cancer. I have since moved to Blue Cross Animal. They have been really great. It's a little more expensive, but worth it.

Bad experiences

My first visit was to get my pets vaccinated. I have a regular vet that I usually go to, but she was out of town and I needed to board my "fur kids". This visit was anything but pleasant to an already nervous person, given it was my first time meeting the doctors at this location. The doctor rudely and hurriedly answered my questions, and seemed irritated when I would ask things. When I went into the back with my great dane, I wasn't even taken to an examining room. The doctor was nervous with her, and treated her as if she were vicious (she is a therapy dog!!). This made her want to hide behind me and get away from him, when she is normally very social and trusting of people (especially animal lovers). They charged me a great deal more for vaccines than I have been charged! I didn't return for about a year. When I finally did, it was for a brief weekend boarding. When I picked them up after the boarding, one of my small dogs had an intestinal flu, one had her face COVERED in rust!!, and the other was walked out with a slip lead when she has a collapsed trachea!!!! The dog with the flu had blood and feces on his rear, and dried urine covering the entire lower half of his body. The one with rust on her face also had feces and some blood on her tail, and tiny sores on her front AND back paws. I also didn't get any of the food/toys/blankets that I left with them returned. When I tried to talk to them about my problems, they were very rude and denied everything. Thankfully my regular vet checked my pets and vaccinated them before the boarding, so I have a clean bill of health. She also checked them directly after, and confirmed their condition after boarding. I filed a report with animal control. I don't recommend this facility to anyone for anything. I boarded at a hospital for peace of mind, thinking it would be healthy and sanitary for my pets. This place was anything BUT that.

The Best Doggy Doctor

I took my doggy to Durango Animal hospital he was very ill, I did not even have an appointment and Dr. B took care of him and preform surgery that same day, my doggy is now running around very happy. Thank you Dr. B for being so caring and making me happy. Durango Animal Hospital is the best.
