Upon moving to Vegas, I looked online for places of worship that weren't denominational, that accepted everyone and hopefully was not weird! One click leads to another and I ended up with my husband (half willingly tagging along) at Easter Sunday service. Coming from a theatre background, when we stood up and sang "In Your Easter Bonnet" following the lyrics on two large screens, I knew I was at a special place. Reverend Cynthia spoke and she was warm, authentic, not "preachy" and certainly laughing at her own flaws. She has an incredible gift for getting an original message across in an inspired, wonderful way. There was a fantastic singer and continues to be different professional singers every Sunday. I've heard great Broadway songs like "Climb Every Mountain" to original songs that are all inspirational and uplifting. One of the best things about the Center is the courses they offer, lead by inspirational, non-judgmental, uplifting teachers who dig inside to solve problems and help get you back on track, whatever that track might be. There's also a great small bookstore and the opportunity to get an instant CD of the service for only five dollars. The Center follows the teachings of Ernest Holmes, a brilliant man, along with Jesus, Buddha and many other spiritual gurus that have walked our Earth. I connected with the philosophy that God is alive in all of us and is not some bearded man above the stars. God wants the best for us including good health, wealth in all areas and success. Gratitude is immensely important and they follow the law of; you must give to receive and forgive to be forgiven. God wants us to find our talent and do our life's work with joy. Nothing is impossible. The hour or so at the Center is not for sissies. There are boxes of Kleenex scattered about. You will get touched in places in your heart and soul that perhaps you were trying to forget about. You will be inspired by great stories and song. You will be encouraged to face your authentic self and for many, that is a scary place to go. No one at the Center judges or stuffs this philosophy down your throat; it's just there for the taking. If you are open you will see that God is everywhere, there for all and doesn’t discriminate. You are empowered through prayer, meditation, and that Universal Love superhighway. Ask and you shall receive. There's magic in Vegas and it's not just on the Strip.
I came upon My Father's House Church, Un-expetedly, and as I thought at the time accidentley. I have been a member now for only 8 Months, and have been made to feel as part of the Family on every visit. Not only my visits in worships, but in my random visits throughout the week. Pastor Jose, the assistant Pastors, the congregation, everyone I come into contact with at My Father's House Church welcome me as Family. I have stopped in on ocasion when in the area, during the work week just to pass the time. Monica, (she runs the front office) has never made me feel, or given me the impression, that she was too busy for me. She always takes the time to chat, or listen. Even with running the Office, answering the phone, and everything else on her plate, not once has she made me feel imposing. I have had the HONOR in spending time with Pastor Jose and his Family outside the Church. The PRIVILEDGE of visiting with Him, his Family, his Dogs at his personal residence. Have had the exstream pleasure of sharing the Table with them. I have been Honored and Blessed with their visits to my home. The Pastor, and his Family are so down to Earth, that I sometimes forget he is a Pastor and address him only by first name. The Pastor and his Family are not what some call "RELIGIOUS FANATICS". The Pastor and I have alot of lifes growing up (on the wrong side of the street) in common. He will, and he does, speaks openly and freely about his past. He hides nothing, and speaks his mind. There is nothing false about this man. He tells it like it is, even if it hurts, then comforts you with the truth. I THANK the LORD, JESUS CHRIST, for his guideance in alowing our Hi-Ways to intersect. With the miles and miles of roads that one can travel, HE alowed us to meet at that Intersection of life. Thank-You Jesus. And Thank-You Pastor Jose. Respectfuly Honored Larry L. Anderson Las Vegas, Nevada
We have our children at Cornerstone Christian Academy & Tykes Preschool. We have one in the preschool program and one in 1st grade. We have been part of the Cornerstone family for 2 years now & we have been incredibly impressed with the passion & character the leadership and staff have for the kids! They are constantly striving to make the school an advanced & amazing place for our kids to grow in their education & spirituality! I am very proud to be part of this school and I look forward to watching my children continue to grow & flourish from the leadership, character & caliber of the teachers, staff & leaders. As I read the recent post that gave Cornerstone one star knowing the school like I do it sounds like there is much more to the story than what has been posted- they would not have taken such extreme measures unless there was a significant repeated delinquency. In order to pay the teachers that teach our children they have to collect tuition- needing to take measures to protect that is certainly not an abuse of a nonprofit organization nor does it show a lack of Christian character- that behavior is consistent with any business that is counted on to pay salaries & keep the lights on.
