I haven't adopted an animal from Lied (I will be soon). After reading these comments and having volunteered at an animal shelter before relocating to Vegas, I felt the need to post. You may not like the fact this is a 'will kill' shelter. HOWEVER, rating it as a 1 star, will only drive people away from this shelter, thereby killing even more animals and that blood is on the hands of the people who are posting negative comments only because the shelter uses euthanization. Encourage people to go to Lied FIRST, because they DO euthanize. If you do not find a compatible partner at Lied, THEN go to a no-kill shelter where the animal will remain until adopted. Going to the no-kill shelters first, runs the risk of the 'perfect companion' being destroyed before you even get the chance to meet. If you need to part with a family pet, I strongly urge you to surrender them to the no-kill shelters and give a sizable contribution to help maintain the animal until adopted. AVOID using Lied and any other 'will kill' shelters at all costs, because they will euthanize any animal once their time is up - no matter how sweet and lovable.

I read the reviews ahead of time, so my husband and I had previewed the dogs online and had 3 in mind when we went in. We saw the 1st dog and the feeling wasn't there. Same with the second. We were getting nervous when the third walked out and it was Cody!!! The staff all had frowns on their faces because he had picked and not chose 5 times earlier that day and wasn't in the "mood" to be nice. I got my warning! Then the cutest little guy on 4 feet walked into my life!! They warned me he was timid and shy and would need to be helped to "come out of his shell". Today, Cody lives in a house with 2 cats. He walks 2-3 times a day for a 1/2 - 1 mile. He passes his Puppy Orientation Class. He loves to go for rides in the truck with my husband. And he has discovered going to the Petstore is always fun!! I am aware that Dewey rescued my dog from a kill-shelter. Then, he spent a long time before I got to him. Thank you for being Cody's Gurdian Angels!! Your work for him has touched my life in a way I don't have words for! On behalf of our Family & That includes Cody, Thank you!
SPCA NO KILL ANIMAL IS THE BEST, I adopt a dog, from this place I love to death he is so cute. Personal staff in this place very nice and knowledgeable about the breed, but make sure you read about breed that you are going to adopt first. The place is clean, little bit smell but compare with human home care is nothing. A few of my friend help this place to keep going. Please if you love animal don't buy, don't spent your money just for ego adopt those animal PLEASE! They desperate to have a new sweet home with sweet family :) They are inexpensive and other then that you are helping these little creature. I wish I have a big home and take all of them with me. Believe it or not I was allergy with animal fur but now I do not care my dog all over my bed as long as he is happy.
