        Jim Schmidt and Dave Goodman founded Hyacinth House in 1975, developing the company’s motto of “Home of Quality Green Plants and Flowers.” Hyacinth House purchased VanPeenen’s Flower Shop in 1977, a retail store and greenhouses that opened in 1930. Today, the family-owned-and-operated company has 25 full-time employees and two divisions: wholesale, a green and blooming plant distributor; and retail, a full-service florist.         The people at Hyacinth House are great. They answered every question I had. They did not rush me to make a decision, nor did they try to encourage me to purchase extra items. I would recommend this florist/greenhouse to everyone!
