Steve's Dog Walking & Pet Sitting

We are so grateful to have found Steve. This was our first trip to Maine and our 2 year old golden retriever, Josie, joined us for all of our hikes and ventures since Bar Harbor and the surrounding areas are extremely dog friendly. However, we were looking for a trustworthy option for dog daycare while we completed the iron rung hikes in Acadia National Park (no dogs allowed).
Steve was responsive, professional, and made us feel very comfortable leaving our sweet Josie behind in a new place - after meeting him, we knew she would be in great hands.
Steve verified medical records, provided comprehensive instructions for pick-up and drop-off, and provided interactive care for Josie while we were gone. During a short 6 hour daycare visit, she was treated to two walks, a play date with another dog Steve was sitting, snuggles, and hand-feeding when she wasn’t showing much interest in her food.
Steve absolutely loves dogs and cared for Josie as though she was his own. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town - thank you again, Steve!

Steve provides an ideal home environment for my labradoodle Maggie when I'm out of town: safe, loving, and respectful of owner's own training guidelines and routine. Maggie truly loves being with Steve, and when I pick her up and bring her home it's a seamless transition back. Five star pet care!!

I have no words to describe my gratitude to Steve. My daughter and I planned a vacation to Acadia National Park and wanted to bring our Italian Greyhound Dobby with us, but at the same time wanted to do a couple of activities he couldn't participate in. After finding Steve's pet sitting service online, I called and went over our trip details with him. He was very straightforward, kind, flexible, and willing to work with us. I felt my dog would be in good hands after my conversation with him. The day arrived for us to drop Dobby off at Steve's and it just felt right. Steve was very thorough about feeding schedules and any other needs Dobby might have. Communication was constant and he encouraged us to check-in as we needed to, he even shared pictures of Dobby making himself right at home.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the experience.

We had never used a pet sitter before and were very apprehensive about leaving our little Brussells Griffon, Simone with a stranger. What an amazingly wonderful experience for us and our dog. Steve put us all at ease with his obvious love of animals and "Simone" warmed up to him immediately. Less than 15 minutes and she was prancing off with him for a walk while we went on our cruise out of Bar Harbor for the day. Thank you so much for being there for us!

I don't really write reviews but Steve is exceptional! We are from NY and wanted to take our 3 dogs to Bar Harbor, ME on vacation and so glad to have found Steve. Thanks to Steve we were able to enjoy a lot of other activities and eat in all different restaurants that are not pet friendly. While we were off doing our adventures, our dogs were in their own little vacation as well with Steve. When we get close to his house, they perk up right away and the tails start wagging! The rates are great for the type and quality of service he provides! Don't look any further...my dogs are happy and safe! Excellent!

Steve is a pure treasure! I needed dog care for two weeks, but was reluctant to take "the kids" to a kennel.....for many reasons. The dogs, when we returned, were *sad* to be at home again, and pined for Steve for several days. Not only were they well cared for, but the chubby girl lost weight from walking and running so much. I cannot say enough that is good about our experience. The "kids" will return to Steve's paradise next summer for sure!

I found Steve through a random google search and he happened to be located within 5 miles of where we were camping at Lamoine State Park. Perfect! We had our two family dogs with us (One is 12 and the other is 2) and needed a safe place for them to stay while we went on a few boat trips. Steve was beyond wonderful with them! So pleased with how he handled our rambunctious 2 year old lab mix and how friendly he was with us. :) Highly recommended and worth every cent!

The best dog sitter ever! We have entrusted Steve with our rambunctious yellow Lab, Lily, for 2 separate week long stays at his house recently. Steve is absolutely wonderful with Lily and we can tell she doesn't want to leave his company. He goes beyond just dog "sitting" in seeing that she socializes with other dogs/cats, goes on walks, or drives, and gets her share of play. We cannot praise him enough!

Trotter, our 8 year old briard, is most particular and discerning and Steve certainly stepped up to the plate. Trotter spent 10 days at Roiphe Retreat and returned home feeling happy and well. He loved all of the companionship, especially of Moxie, the kitten, a highlight in his book! Steve pays attention to the details, reads dog language easily and sees how they relate to one another. We feel so fortunate to have found such quality care for a treasured member of our troupe. A BIG PAWS UP!

Steve regularly walks our two Aussies, who adore him. When needed, he also stays at our home and adds the three cats into the mix. We have kind of a complicated place, and as needed, he will fill birdfeeders, water the garden -- you name it. I'd trust him with anything.



I consider him our hero. One of our dogs came down with something right after we left for an overnight. He cleaned up her poopie backside, cleaned up the mess on the floor, cleaned up the cleaning rags . . . you get the picture. A co-worker has used Steve a lot for housesitting -- he even help her cat give birth, tied an umbilical cord when needed, then adopted one of the kittens. How much more could you ask?

Steve visits my two Labs twice a week to give them a mid-day break. For us, it's not so much a "dog walking" service as play time. My boys love it! They play ball in the fenced-in back yard, run around and enjoy each other, then calm down with a cuddle session before Steve leaves. It's the perfect blend of action and attention. I think that's what makes Steve so great. He really takes the time to get to know your dogs, their needs, and personalities. And coupled with your input, comes up with a visit plan customized to your particular needs, designed for your dog. I'm so glad I found him!

I recently moved to Maine and had to find a reliable pet sitter for my very spoiled dog and cat. I found Steve on line, and it turned out his wife (and several past clients) work for my new employer. I hired Steve and was SO relieved to find a contientious, caring person for my "kids." He brought my cat a toy, left a note each day reporting on how they did, and turned on light sso I wouldn't come home to a dark house. I highly recommend Steve for your pampered pets.

Our two very large mutts got the opportunity to stay at home, instead of being sent to a kennel, while the family was away on vacation. We returned home to a very clean house and happy dogs. The youngest dog has stayed in kennels and come home very thin from the stress of being boarded, so it was very nice to see him healthy and happy when I returned. Also, the amount of exercise that Steve provided was great. He catered to both of our dog's energy levels very nicely. Finally, the rates Steve charges are very fair and well worth the price!

Steve has been providing weekday care for our 2 German Shepherds (Reno & Ruby) for years. They love his visits! We are grateful for his prompt and professional service!



He provides excellent attention and care (treats our dogs as though they are his!) to our pets and they love it! Steve ALWAYS manages to ensure that they are thoroughly and completely exercised through play, interaction and walking.



He's happy to report on how things are going on a daily basis via our "chalkboard" and regularly leaves notes when he thinks there might be any issue we should be aware of.



One rarely encounters the quality of service Steve provides. I highly encourage you to use him for your pets sitting/care needs!

Steve has been walking our two dogs every weekday for almost two years. He is thoughtful and reliable, plus the dogs love him! Finding a good dog walker/pet sitter can be difficult. We were really, really lucky to find Steve. We highly recommend him.
