        Overall

        Merry Maids have cleaned our home bi-weekly for over 5 years. They are professional, prompt, and hard working. Our bathrooms shine. The kitchen and living room floors are washed by hand and look great.

        My regular cleaning service was not available in the timeframe I needed so I hired Merry Maids of Lakewood for a move-in cleaning for my 2-bed, 1-bath, 1000SF duplex. The price of $300 was twice what I typically pay (was told this is an office minimum charge) but was assured that I would get my money’s worth. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

        I wont go into ALL the details…well, I will mention that they left a big black hair in the bathroom sink! When I called the office to complain, the original crew was sent back, and I quickly realized the problem. This office of Merry Maids uses only “green” cleaning products, a fact not disclosed to me when I agreed to the service. No soap, no sponges with abrasive sides, no stainless steel polish were used…all I saw was vinegar, orange micro-fiber rags and a few magic erasers. Really? How is ANYONE supposed to do a deep clean without soap? Nothing sparkled, nothing shined, and nothing could be scrubbed, despite the efforts of the crew, who diligently tried to please this upset customer. Realizing they were unequipped for the job, I thanked them and let them go home.

        Tonight, my wife and I are going back to the duplex to clean it ourselves. We will bring disinfecting cleaners, a bucket, a mop and do a good old-fashioned deep cleaning. We will do this because our tenants are important to us, and they deserve a clean place to move into – a vision apparently not shared by Merry Maids of Lakewood. Totally disappointing…..and a huge rip off.
