Dental Examination
Dental radiographs (X-rays) are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam. Dentists and dental hygienists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan. Without X-rays, problem areas may go undetected.
X-rays
Digital radiography (digital X-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental X-rays. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of X-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged, helping the dentist and dental hygienist detect problems more easily. Digital X-rays reduce radiation 80-90% compared to the already low exposure of traditional dental X-rays.

Teeth Cleaning

Dental Sealants
A sealant is a thin, plastic coating applied to the chewing surface of molars, premolars and any deep grooves (called pits and fissures) of teeth. More than 75% of dental decay begins in these deep grooves. Teeth with these conditions are hard to clean and are very susceptible to decay. A sealant protects the tooth by sealing deep grooves, creating a smooth, easy to clean surface.

Fillings
Although studies indicate that there are no measurable health risks to patients who have silver fillings, we do know that mercury is a toxic material when we are exposed at high, unsafe levels. For instance, we have been warned to limit the consumption of certain types of fish that carry high levels of mercury in them. However, with respect to amalgam fillings, the ADA maintains that when the mercury combines with the other components of the filling, it becomes an inactive substance that is safe.
Resin Composite
Inlays/Onlays - These restorations are custom made fillings. They can be made of composite resin, porcelain or gold and are made by a dental laboratory and placed by a dentist. Inlays/onlays are usually best for the posterior chewing surfaces of teeth and are utilized to conservatively repair teeth that have large defective/unattractive fillings or have been damaged by decay or trauma.

Crowns
A crown is a tooth-colored, custom-made covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. Crowns protect and strengthen teeth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. They are ideal for teeth that have large, fractured or broken fillings and also for those that are badly decayed.
Bridges
Fixed bridges - This type of bridge is generally made of porcelain or composite material and is anchored (cemented) permanently to a natural teeth adjacent to the missing tooth site. The benefit of this type of bridge is that it is fixed (not removable) and it is very sturdy. The disadvantage is that in order to create a fixed appliance, two healthy, natural teeth will have to be crowned (capped) to hold the bridge in place.

Root Canal Treatment
There has NEVER been a good experience for me with any dental visit for me anywhere I have ever been in my 44yrs of life. I havenâ€™t been to the dentist in 6yrs due to having a very painful last cleaning with my last dentist in PB. Then step son went to this office the beginning of 2021 and said that he liked them. So I had to put the fear aside and go for it and let me tell you Iâ€™m so happy. Dr. A is wonderful he talks you through what heâ€™s doing he makes sure your numb enough to not feel the work being done. Dr. A talks to you instead of just getting the job done you see he has passion for his work. He called me later that day to see how I was doing which blew me away. How sweet is that. A few weeks later I developed a infection were I needed a root canal and called the office on a day they were closed because I was in so much pain. In an hour of calling I had a pain med in my hand. Donna is amazing she goes above and beyond and not many medical places have people like her. I must say ALL the staff here are absolutely wonderful. They make you feel cared for. This is a dental office I enjoy going to. I highly recommend East County Dentistry!!

Deep Cleaning

Dentures
– Brush at least twice a day with an ADA approved fluoride toothpaste and toothbrush. Floss daily to remove food debris and plaque from in between the teeth and under the gumline. Brush or use a tongue scraper to clean the tongue and reach the back areas. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months. If you wear dentures or removable bridges, clean them thoroughly and place them back in your mouth in the morning.

After capturing cephalometric X-rays, the dentist will be able to see a complete side profile of the head. The staff in the office are courteous, sweet and friendly, and Dr. Ardjmand was awesome. He asked my son a few questions, really listened to him and his request, clearly explained options for treatment and why it was more beneficial. My son is extremely comfortable with each step that has been scheduled out and explained to him as he gets ready for braces for the first time. There prices were more affordable then other dentist which i why we put it off for two years till we were told about east county family dentistry.
