Mounir A. Soliman, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist and neurologist who is an expert in developing wellness programs tailored to executives. Dr. Soliman serves as assistant vice chancellor and executive director for Health Sciences International at UC San Diego Health. He is instrumental in promoting leading-edge research, advanced education and innovative clinical programs. Previously, Dr. Soliman served as clinical service chief in the Department of Psychiatry, providing clinical and administrative leadership support to over 135 faculty members, and overseeing patient care. He worked to improve access to services, safety, quality and patient satisfaction, which helped lead to the advancement of the Department of Psychiatry nationally, which is ranked among the very top clinical programs according to US News & World Report.As a professor in the UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Soliman conducts research on treatment-resistant mood disorders and the application of non-psychopharmacological approaches such as Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). Dr. Soliman joined the UC San Diego faculty in 1998 after completing his residency training in the Department of Psychiatry. In addition to his medical degree from Cairo University, he holds an MBA in health care from the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine. He is board-certified in psychiatry and neurology.Dr. Soliman is a member of the UC San Diego Medical Board of Governors and the UC San Diego Professional Standards Committee.
