As far as rescues go, Nancy's is the most accommodating I've found in my searches! When I called about Henry Nancy warned me he was a little jumpy and nervous meeting people, and that we'd have to see how it went (she won't let you take one of the rescues home if they don't wanna go with ya!), but when we made the trip from Fort Wayne to Kokomo, we were greeted with a wagging tail, kisses, and Henry literally climbing all over us! We were sold but my husband is sometimes allergic to dogs, depending on the breed, so we were really leery of falling in love with Henry and then not being able to keep him! Nancy told us we could take Henry home and kind of try it out for one to two weeks before we made our final decision. She sent us home with a bag full of his toys from his previous home (which were more than enough and we haven't needed to buy any yet!), his leash and collar, and paperwork ensuring us he was neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and had already received his heartworm and flea preventative for the month. Needless to say, Henry is an extremely happy, well tempered, and hilarious dog, and there is no way we could take him back! He's in his forever home! Thank you Nancy!
If you're looking for a place to adopt a cocker spaniel from, I would highly recommend Indiana Cocker Rescue. Nancy Taylor is a very wonderful & caring lady who I found very easy to work with in adopting my current cocker spaniel. I live in South Bend, IN & was having a very difficult time finding adoptable cockers in my area, & after researching on line found this agency. I had many conversations/emails with Nancy, & she was always professional & pleasant. I was dealing with my aging mother in a nursing home facing several issues & also the recent loss of my last cocker that had passed away just before her 14th birthday. Nancy kept me informed about a dog that she thought I would be interested in, sent me pictures, kept my updated on all her labwork, & told me that when I was available to drive to Kokomo to meet my new pet, to let her know. She was so understanding, & said, "Take care of your mother first," which I did. When the day arrived to meet my new little girl, I was so excited to finally meet them both. I couldn't be happier! I am so grateful for everything that Nancy Taylor does, & highly recommend her agency.
What can I say about Nancy Taylor? Well, I can say that I have adopted two Cockers from her...one at 9 wks. and one from rescue 3 years ago. Nancy is one of the most caring and compassionate people that I have ever known, and there's nobody on the planet who cares for dogs the way she does. Nancy became our friend from the first time we met--and I can't say enough nice things about her. When I lost my parents and was terribly depressed, Nancy introduced me to a rescue dog....and the next day, we took Reilly to Kokomo to see if the two dogs would get along. Reilly approved...and Maddie came home with us....and Maddie rescued ME. Thanks to my wise friend who said "I saw THAT look in your eyes", Maddie and I healed each other. Nancy helps people complete their families....and she has our gratitude and our love. I know we are not the only people who have been blessed by knowing this lady--but we continue to count her as one of our blessings. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars....she deserves so much more.
