I listen to two of the local C...

I listen to two of the local Citadel stations, WOKI & WNML. My opinion of Citadel is formed solely by these two. WNML The Good: 1. WNML is relaxed, informative, and interesting to listen to. 2. The people in behind the mikes are top drawer, everyday folks - who do justice to the whole sports talk spectrum. 3. The programming is not stuffed with commercials, so the on-air personalities have the time to explore varied branches of the sports venue. 4. Another plus about WNML is that, for a talk show junkie like myself, it offers an oasis from the harshness, monotony and the anger of WOKI programming content. The Bad: 1. WNML's only drawback is, at the same time, one of its strong points. It's only about sports. WOKI The Good: 1. It has far and away the best local news coverage of our community. 2. It has the best local political coverage, bar none. 3. All of the on-air people, with the exception of the afternoon host, are easy to identify with. 4. George Korda's Sunday show is the only time I listen to WOKI during the weekend. 5. HHH is refreshing in that he does not follow in lock-step the mindless, right-wing drum beat. The Bad: 1. Listening enjoyability is smothered by commercials. 2. HHH routinely promotes infomercials as news. (At best a white lie) 3. HHH redundantly lectures listeners on how to be a good parent. It's binge preaching at its most boring. 4. The afternoon drive time host is sleazy. His juvenile sexual innuendo and crass, coarse humor are better suited for thirteen year old boys behind the garage. 5. The station power is weak, so getting the station is often a problem when I travel locally. What happened to those great 100,000 watts ?

Seriously, nobody has reviewed...

Seriously, nobody has reviewed these guys yet? What's wrong with the world? I basicly listen to 3 radio stations, WDVX, 100.3 (all talk in Ktown), and when I'm in Kentucky, HAY98. WDVX is kind of a Ktown institution. My only real gripe with them is their transmitter goes on the fritz or something at times I can barely get them even though they're not far from me. They started out transmitting from a camper (in a campground...) some years back. They're also listener supported. Commercials every 5 minutes? Not here. These guys are real community radio. Every weekday (and now Saturday) about lunchtime the have the Blue Plate Special which is live bands from the Ktown Visitor Center. It's a small stage with limited seating and it's surprising sometimes what bands (or artists) they get there. They also used to be at The Shed in Maryville all the time, but not sure anymore since it's been awhile since I've seen a concert there. They're at Tennessee Shines as well as The Square Room. They have alot to do with roots music in Ktown and thereabouts. I like to listen to Rise N Shine with the one and only Freddy Smith and Cumberland Sunday Morning with Mike Kelly. I used to work with him, he really is a nice guy (and Christian). They play alot of bluegrass and roots (Americana) music, depending on the time of day. They're also online and broadcast worldwide, I've listened to them in Maryland when I was there on my internet phone.

Loud and clear in L.C.

For me AM only existed bak in the 70's until now. Monday I tuned in but the wether was bad and the reception was staticky 'till I got to Watt rd. where it began to clear up and get stronger. Tuesday was clearer weather and broadcastwise. I totally enjoyed listening to Andrew Womac and the music mix was very useful in preparing me to receive the word ,and diverse to minister to different taste, een if country gospel isn't my first choice The rest of the week I rode the bike to work so the reception on it was not as clear .Hm. maybe gas milage isn't everything.
