Scion Knoxville

Purchasing my Camry with Toyota Knoxville was a horrible experience, and I will surely not buy my next car from this dealership.

They have a Preferred Value Package that comes with their cars and costs $431. Most of the items in this package are redundant for most buyers and if you are interested in buying any of the items you can do it separately, not as part of this package.

The dealership has Processing Fees of $489 in addition to the Delivery Processing and Handling Fees that they say are from the manufacturer of $795.

The largest waste in buying a car from this dealership comes from paying $449 for Shadowmark. This product has 2 components: 1. Additional Marking of the VIN number in 6 different locations in the vehicle. This item can be purchased in Autozone for around $30. 2. A component of $5000 of insurance that you get if the car is stolen. I estimate that the value of Shadowmark is $60, but all the cars in this dealership have this product and they charge you $449 for it. Many other dealerships will be happy to sell you the same car without the Shadowmark for $449 less.

They also say that they have a lifetime warranty on the powertrain. However, since the powertrain should not have any problem if you do oil changes regularly, this warranty has a value next to zero.

You can get a better deal in most other dealers that you go, simply if you choose a dealer without Shadowmark.

They also told me that the Shadowmark will decrease my insurance premium, which did not happen.

If from any reason you decide to pay more and buy your car from this dealership, be aware that after you buy, you get a 15% coupon for all accessories for around 5 weeks. So don’t buy any accessory on the day that you buy the car. Go home, and come back later with the coupon to get a discount.

After three weeks of trying to deal with Toyota Knoxville, we went to Nashville and bought a Prius II with a few more features for $2,400 less than the best deal we could get out of the Knoxville folks. In fact, when we received a mailing telling us the Toyota Knoxville wanted our 2007 Prius and would pay us more than book value for it, we went back out there to try again and were offered less on the 2007 than we had been offered the first time. We had bought four cars at Toyota Knoxville and will not buy there again.

I have reviewed this dealership in the past few days, and it was not a positive review. Now all of the reviews from the 4 different websites are gone, which is interesting. I purchased an FJ 10 months ago, and now have had to replace the windshield 3 times. The first time was definitely a rock, but the last 2 times are cracks in the exact same place, with no history of any rocks or trauma occurring to the windshield. Also, the air conditioning broke within the first 500 miles of purchase, and the alignment was off for the first 2 services. Their response? I could buy a new FJ. I just bought a new FJ, with apparently faulty windshields, air conditioning and alignment; why would I buy another car? No other solutions to my continued problems, just buy another car. They were not helpful at all, just dismissive. I would not recommend buying a car from them, they do not stand by their products at all. If something goes wrong with your car, it's on you. Thank goodness the air conditioning and alignment was still under warranty; I hate to think what would have happened if I didn't have the warranty to make them take responsibility for their vehicle.

My wife and I bought a new Avalon there and had a great experience. Our salesman was very kind and informative. Would suggest to anyone that does not want to play typical car games.
