Until yesterday, I would have given this company the highest star rating, but as of yesterday, they have lost one previously consistent, happy customer. The bread is delicious, but the reason my husband and I, with a tight budget and 3 little ones, are willing to pay twice as much for their bread is for the nutritional value of the freshly ground wheat. The taste is simply a very nice plus. And since it is my understanding that the nutrients oxidize with time, I would always ask to buy from the loaves made that same day, which the employees have always been very kind and understanding to supply. This one day though, in response to my regular request to buy the bread that was made that same day, the owner stepped in with an offended, disrespectful and sarcastic tone and words to argue with me about my reasons for requesting the freshest bread. It surprisingly and quickly turned into a heated argument with him even telling me I didn't know what I was talking about concerning the oxidation of nutrients, and it ended with him literally telling me in anger and offense to go somewhere else to buy bread simply because I am known to request loaves made that same day. He never even gave a clear reason as to why he was refusing to sell the freshest bread. I was not only shocked by his unexplained refusal, but especially by how disrespectfully and sarcastically the owner, and also his wife, were "discussing" this matter with me. There were no other customers in the store at the time to see this scenario, only many of their employees that I think are great, but the way I was being treated by him and his wife was shockingly terrible business, and unfortunately I will never be going into their store again. Though it won't be as convenient for me, I will definitely be baking our own bread from now on. I simply could not believe the way he and his wife, who had otherwise seemed like nice people, were treating me as a customer, simply for wanting to buy the freshest bread direct from a bread store. I guess as long as you don't request the freshest bread though, the owner will welcome you into his store.
