Overall

THIS DENTIST IS ATROCIOUS. Now, don’t get me wrong, the staff in the front of the office is very polite and courteous, but that does not make up for what happens behind the door. I went in for my usual cleaning however I had recently moved to the area and needed to find a new dentist. Based on the reviews I read I choose Ideal Dental but man, was I wrong. First off, they do not have a Dental Hygienist (first red flag) at this location (which I was unaware of when I made my appointment), therefore a nurse/tech took my x-rays and pictures and that was all fine. Then she took 19 pictures of my teeth, which was something new for me, but also fine. Then the Dentist, came in and started poking around in my teeth, calling out codes to the nurse/tech who was recording the information. When that was done the Dentist said I had TEN cavities that needed filling, TEN CAVITIES. I have maybe only ever had 1 cavity in my life, and all of a sudden I have TEN (red flag number 2). Now, hearing the news I was shocked to say the least and panicked as the dentist said if I do not get these taken care of immediately I would likely need root canals. I asked when I could schedule an appointment to get them taken care of and she stated “We could do them right now” ((red flag number 3). A good Dentist wouldn’t have the time to fill TEN CAVITIES as (after speaking with my Dentist who is extremely diligent and good stated it would have taken him at least 3 hours to fill TEN CAVITIES)) But remember, I was panicked and actually had someone to watch my son as my family was in town for the weekend, so I said, well then let’s do this because I do not want to have to deal with a root canal or potentially TEN. So the “Insurance” people came in, told me it would cost $532 for the fillings and I went ahead and paid it. The Dentist came back in, which I thought she was going to do my cleaning but no, she started numbing (red flag number 4) my mouth and started drilling away. 45 minutes later she had completed drilling and filling TEN CAVITIES. Mind you, the entire time she was drilling I could feel the drilling taking place and the Dentist got mad and continued to tell me it is because I grind my teeth and they are sensitive. I DO NOT grind my teeth, I used to and I took care of that issue, with a night guard, when I was in college. The Dentist continued to insist that I still grind my teeth and continued to try to get me to let her fit me for a night guard which would have cost an additional $200 when all a night guard is, is a mouth guard which you could buy for $5 a Walmart and custom fit it to your mouth just like football players do. But that is beside the point. After the fillings were complete and my entire mouth was numb she did my cleaning (red flag number 5), which took approximately 7 minutes…7 MINUTES…SERIOUSLY (red flag number 6). A quick cleaning anywhere else would be around 30 minutes, and most take around 45 to 60, but this one took SEVEN MINUTES. They gave me a goodie bag and sent me to the front to book my next appointment (red flag number 7). HECK NO. I WILL NEVER EVER BE BACK TO THIS PLACE and I WILL TELL EVERYONE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE. I went in and got my records and all of the pictures and looked at them in detail with a Dental Hygienist and she stated that most if not all of my so called CAVITIES were “pin hole” cavities if they were cavities at all and definitely did not need any drilling. Had they done the cleaning first they likely would have cleaned out the buildup and I would never have had an issue but this Dentist wanted my money and that is why she used scare tactics stating I would need root canals if I didn’t get them taken care of. To say I am MAD is an UNDERSTATEMENT. This Dentist and office should not exist. I know it is extremely hard to prove dental fraud but I am going to do my best, and sharing my story will hopefully help other people looking for a dentist.
