This is the best restaurant in the Winston area. We go rarely because it is over $30/ person but it is by far my favorite. We prefer to go Monday through Thursday because there is no wait. My two kids (7 & 4) love food and they are welcome but it is definitely not a ""family restaurant"".

This was for a family dinner. Nine of us met at OutWest for my granddaughter's seventh birthday. The wait, for a Friday evening, was acceptable; approximately 45 minutes. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. The service was slow, but the waitress was very good. She had a wonderful personality without being obnoxious, silly, or over-the-top. When the food finally came, it was well worth the wait. The ribeye, ribs, grilled chicken, garlic shrimp was tender and tasty. The salads were fresh with homemade dressings. Our appetizer was the Texas Onion. It was sweet and not over-fried. Coffee was just the right strength and not bitter. The tea was good and not too awefully sweet. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves. The slow service gave us an opportunity to unwind from a busy week and the family was able to enjoy conversation without much interruption. I recommend OutWest to anyone who want a relaxing atmosphere without someone rushing them to eat and leave.

We really enjoy going to OutWest. They have some very good steaks, the fish is excellent, and their appetizers are really different and good.
Whenever we want to go out and have a little bit fancier steak experience, we usually always end up at OutWest. Just make sure you get there early enough, since they don't take reservations.
Worst Little Restaurant in Kernersville - OUT WEST STEAKHOUSE
You are not going to believe what happened to Jacob and I and 8 of our close friends! Well what had happened. Here it goes...
We were all going out to dinner for a birthday party. We went in the Out West Steakhouse in Kernersville, NC on Hwy 66. We waited for 25 min in the bar for a table for 10 people. I went to the hostess to ask how much longer she said they were clearing a table. Now up until this point nothing was said about my wearing a ""beater""(sleeveless shirt). When they went to seat us I was at the front hostess desk and she proceeded to tell me I could not be seated whit a sleeveless shirt because I was a man...If I were a female I could wear a tank top in their dining room. Okay does that sound a little like discrimination? Well he went on to say it was because men have hair under their arms. The manager came at my request to talk to me. He said the same thing and brought me a ""COOKS COAT"" to wear in the dining room. As I was looking in the dining room there was a really large man with overalls on and a nasty t-shirt. This is not a 5 star restaurant or anything. I have walked into county clubs and eat with beaters on.
I called them back on Monday to talk about what happened and the assistant manager hung up on me and said it was not worth their time. Not once but 3 times they hung up on me. The guy on the phone would not give me the owner?s name. They said the can do as they please in their restaurant.
This little piece of a restaurant is not even worth this much of my time. I just wanted to bring it to all my friends attention that being gay is hard enough in this world but if they can't do this to you then they will find something to decimate against you. I can hurt this place with word of mouth. I am putting this in the paper in Kernersville as well. I'll leave the swearing out of that copy. LOL
Let me start with saying that the above letter was written by a very good friend of mine who was part of a suprise birthday party for me on 8-25-07.
We all arrived at the crowded bar at outwest at 6:30 and waited for our table in the over crowded bar that we felt like we were in the way of everyone in there. Then it came time for us to be seated and the hostess told my friend he couldnt be seated because of the tank that he was wearing. She never mentioned the sleeveless shirt I was wearing that covered the same amount of skin on me that his covered on him. We were all immediately disgusted at the ignorant reason we got for the clothing violation. There were people in there that I am sure were not half as clean and attractive as our group. If they want to worry about the look of their crowd they might want to start with the dirty trash that they gladly wait on and serve in there. We left there and rode a mile down the road to Mi Peublo where we were welcomed with nice smiling faces and friendly people who were glad to see us and have us in there establishment. Thanks again Mi Pueblo for the wonderful birthday and Outwest will never get another dime from me or my family or friends.

After years of eating there, The air conditioner is not working, after making owner aware of problem, "" He explained, will take weeks to fix, too long to shut down, to fix , sorry for the inconvience"" This was large celebration, Always had good food, good service, Didnt know he was going to cook my guests , as well as me! Menu is getting quite boring. Same steak, but now with sauce I can not pronounce.. go back to the good stuff. Chorizo on everything is not good! Lack of care for customer is not good! lost the special touch.. it does show.

Outwest Steakhouse and Saddleroom is a great dining experience, whether you are dining with your family or your date. The food is excellent and they have daily specials that are well worth trying. The restaurant is family owned and operated. You can even see one of the owners in the open kitchen window most days.
