STAND YOUR GROUND with Mr Barry Nelson... First truck he tried to pawn off on me had a huge fresh gasoline spill in the back, almost made me puke after less than a minute in the back. I complained, so he strong-arms me out of walking out the door, saying I'd pay a cancellation fee if I did not rent a truck from him (LIES). Ok, so I fall for his stare down sneer tactics, but the next truck he brings up has a huge crack in the windshield, one of those up the side and over the middle cracks that will surely be all the way across and splintered by the time I get where I am going. Despite the safety implications, there is no mystery who ends up paying for it, funniest part is how in the beginning before the first truck came up, he used the example of "cracked windshield" to try and up-sell me to the more expensive damage waiver - that shows he will charge you for damage then not even fix it for the next customer.
STAND YOUR GROUND, he will lie to you to the bitter end, and when you call customer service he will baby-up and even refuse to talk to them. You will get your full refund from Budget, that is their policy if you are not satisfied with the rental. (but, DO NOT LEAVE THE PREMISES before calling customer service - that is his fail-safe.)
There is another Budget Rental location just south of Auburn, they will not treat you like this. Go there, don't let this guy strong-arm you, stare you down, intimidate you into accepting his lies.
