When looking for a place for my 8 year olds birthday party I looked everywhere, I read as many reviews as I could. I price compared and had to consider the age group more now than in the past. Niether myself nor my wife had been there before and we hadn't been to a skaing rink since the early 80's when it was the IN thing to do. The lack of reviews for any skate center made this decision a little nerve racking as we didn't know what to expect. We were able to find 1 negative review but felt that the person who wrote that review had to have no concept of what a skating rink was or demanded/expected something that was illogical considering the amount that Mason Road charges for their birthday parties. 1. When setting up a party at a skate center don't expect that it was built within the last 5 years. It's a skate center, something that is popular but not as popular as it used to be. We view Mason Road Skate Center as Retro design. It's a flash back in design with upgrades/remodels to maintain a clean, safe and fun place to go. 2. Ease of setup; Call, pick a date and time and they basically do the rest. All you need to bring is a cake and the party people. 3. Friendlyness of the staff. Everyone there was extremely friendly and helpfull, including Janet (who I believe is the owner). They tell you what the party package includes and they produce. Refreshing! 4. Fun for all kids, even those that have never skated before. The wrink itself is in good shape, the music played is no different that what you hear on local radio stations and if they can't skate you can rent a skate walker that they support themselves with while rolling around. Simple and effective. 5. PRICE: they have (hands down) some of the best package rates considering what all they provide. skates include, food included, drink include, decoration included and I'm sure I'm missing a few other things. The amount they charge would not even get you in the door of many places and is more likely to be the deposit for others. 6. We didn't expect it and were fine with it, so don't expect a seperate private party room. They reserve a table for your party and do a very simple layout for the party. Don't expect table covers, if you must have one, bring one. I understand why they don't provide them, it becomes something for the kids to grab onto if they get unstable or are about to fall down. Remember the kids are on skates so don't be suprised if someone pulls everything off the table when they loose their footing. Don't expect a choice of themes to choose from, again if you want that bring that. My child didn't care and from the looks of the other kids the didn't care either. I thnk that is more of a parent issue anyways. The food is good and the kids liked it, NO it's not Brother pizza or Fuzzies pizza but it is pretty good nevertheless. Again something I don't think the kids even pay attention to. Bottom line is this was a nice change and not another bounce around place or over priced place who does birthdays on the side. Highly recommend it, just be realistic of what to expect and if you want more then either ask or ask if you can bring it. I have no doubt they would be happy to accomodate. Couple of other quick notes: 1. This isn't a private party so there are other kids and families there. If you prefer less people then pick an earlier time. 2. Did I mention you also get a hostess/waitress who helps during the party. She can keep you on a strict schedule or you can just wing it on when to do what. As long as you don't go over your time. 3. Shocking as it may seem but yes you the parents MAY have to do some things yourself. You have a hostess but she's only human. If you need napkins, cups or whatever, please get up and get it. Don't complain! Last I checked this is Katy not Beverly Hills.

OMG! This salon is amazing! This is definitely the BEST hair salon in town and around! I love the whole vibe and look of BH Hair Studio - chic and hip, but at the same time, unpretentious and very welcoming. The moment I walked in, I received a friendly hi and offered a glass of ice water. The salon was buzzing with life and people looked like they were having a good time. Mia did an amazing job on my color - all I knew was that I wanted to keep the blonde highlights but still keep some of the depth and dimension from my natural color (brown) - she knew exactly what process was needed to create that effect and took the time to do it right. The girl that washed my hair was super gentle and nice. My color turned out no less than perfect. Laura did magic on my hair cut and style. Her artistry and technique is amazing. It's extremely hard to find a stylist that executes flawless hairstyles, I feel like I struck gold. I am extremely satisfied and was even surprised at how much more flattering my new hair is for my face and how much lighter and healthier it feels. Laura has long-time professional experience, and her friendly attitude, high professional skill will definitely make everyone satisfied with the new look!! Diane cut my husband's hair and WOW!! She knew exactly what to do for cowlicks and his hair type. He had nothing but good things to say about Diane and his experience at BH Hair Studio. This was a first, as he is very picky!! Diane is very talented & you can tell that she just CARES about making each haircut perfect. The hair washing process was professional, well done and relaxing. Last but not least, Ginger did an amazing cut and style on our daughter’s hair. Ginger is super sweet and went out of her way to make our 6 year old daughter feel comfortable and relaxed. She knew exactly what needed to be done for long curly hair and took the time to cut and style it perfect! She was patient, was not in a rush and dedicated her time completely. She was super accommodating and did a superb job. BH Hair Studio has all the excellent, professional stylist and I am confident you couldn’t go wrong with anyone you choose. I've gotten more compliments on my current haircut and color than ever! We finally found our lifetime salon!
We are the new owners of the historic (built in 1905 by Giles Elam Romack) Romack House at 5806 Fourth Street, previously known as ‘Cottage Charm Tea Room’. We are the most affordable small Events Venue in the Katy area, and we are the only venue located in a Katy Ancestral Home. We have made significant improvements and historic restoration to the building and the land surrounding it to make it a beautiful special ‘do-it-yourself’ Events Venue now known as ‘Cottage Charm @ The Romack House’. We have repaired and replaced many parts of the house, carefully duplicating original details, in a ‘Shabby Chic’ style. Floors have been refinished, doorways expanded, new wiring, plumbing and HVAC systems installed, and we are carefully documenting all our work. Also available is the Cottage Kitchen…a commercial kitchen/culinary incubator/shared kitchen...all new appliances. For more information about the house or to rent the facility or contact us, Dave & Nancy Gillespie, visit our Cottage Charm @ The Romack House website or find us on Facebook at Cottage Charm @ The Romack House, and hopefully Like us!
