Unfortunately, my husband was seen by Dr. Melvin Jackson tonight. His complaint was a sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. My husband has asthma and requested a steroid since he's now beginning to have difficulty breathing. However, Dr. Jackson declined to give him medication for his inflammation and instead gave him a Z-Pak and cough medicine. Yes, a cough medicine to treat the symptoms, rather than the cause. Well, giving Dr. Jackson the benefit of the doubt, I returned to the med stop with my husband to request a steroid, as I felt that maybe he did not clearly stress that he was having difficulty breathing. The nurse left the desk to relay the message. I was then informed by the nurse that, though Dr. Jackson heard his complaint, he will STILL not give him a steroid, because he doesn't need it. Then, she goes on to say that "He's one of those doctors that when he says no, he's not doing it." Really? Seriously? How does a complaint of shortness of breath and chest tightness by an asthma patient not justify a prescription for a steroid or a steroid injection? So, tomorrow, my husband will see his asthma doctor to get the appropriate treatment for flared asthma... A STEROID. I guess writing prescriptions for Z-Paks and cough medicines is the extent of Dr. Jackson's scope of practice. And when it is brought to his attention that he didn't provide sufficient care, he would rather prove the point that he's the doctor and what he says goes, rather than focus on patient care. Thanks for nothing other than collecting a copay, sir. Rest assured, we will NEVER come back. God help the rest of your patients.

I was diagnosed w/ viral gastroenteritis I acquired while conducting research on Sapelo Island. I had a headache, diarrhea, elevated blood pressure, and allergy-like symptoms for two days.

I was given a shot of benadryl and sent on my way. They didn't treat my headache because "there's too much drug abuse out there." I have no history of drug abuse, and I seriously doubt people are abusing imitrex.

They also said I need to speak with my primary care dr to "find out why I'm getting headaches in the first place." Seriously!? This headache is acute!

To top it all off, they forgot to give me an excuse to miss work. My girlfriend had to drive back to get it.

I'm a biologist. I believe in conservative medical treatment, but this was ridiculous. $100 for a shot of benadryl in the hip.

On anorther note, the wait time was only 10 minutes because I had checked in online. The staff were friendly. But that should be a given.

We saw Dr. Espinoza, and he was great. Caring, funny, and was very gentle with my son. Highly recommend them.

I would never ever go to this place again. I went to them after going to the Er and sitting for six hours Saturday. I would rather wait six hours than have someone be mean to my two year old son because he was crying. The Medical asst was getting his pulse and he was pulling away so she decided to stick her fake nails in his arm to hold his arm down.He had nail marks on his wrist. Sheleft out my son was playing with the stool and Dr. Jackson came in and snatched the stool from him and said put him up here. I sat him up there on the table he was crying reaching for me and Dr. Jackson grabbed him around his shoulders while my son has a sore arm and yelled NO in my sons face 5 times. Never in my life have I seen a doctor act that way while the same nasty medical asst was with him. My son has been to his doctor many times crying and never been treated this way. I even said to the doctor do u think that's helping. Horrible place!! Children cry children throw fits they all do it but you don't scream in my child's face.

UNPROFESSIONAL! I GOT SEEN FOR LESS THAN TWO MINUTES, AND GOT PRESCRIBED MEDICINE THAT I HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED BEFORE, THAT DOESNT WORK. HE LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS A JUNKY AND GOT RUDE WITH ME WHEN I TOLD HIM WHAT MY OTHER DR. PRESCRIBED ME. IN OUR BRIEF 2MIN VISIT HE TALKED DOWN TO ME. I DON'T PRESCRIBE THOSE KIND OF MEDICINES TO YOUR KIND OF PEOPLE, I HAD TO WALK OUT OF THE OFFICE, BECAUSE I WAS AFFRAID I MIGHT HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO HIM. I'M IN PAIN ALL THE TIME, FROM A AUTOMOTIVE ACCIDENT, AND A GUNSHOT WOUND, AND ITS SOMETHING I'VE LEARNED TO COPE WITH, BUT IT MAKES YOU CRANKY AND IT AFFECTS EVERYONE AROUND ME. I REFUSE TO GO BACK TO PAIN MANAGMENT TO GET HOOKED BACK ON HIGH MILLIGRAMS OF OXYCODONE. BUT OXYCODONE IN LOW MILLIGRAMS 7.5 MG'S 3X A DAY WORK FOR ME. THEY GET ME THREW THE DAY AND MAKE MY QUALITY OF LIFE BETTER. UNTIL I GET INSURANCE, WHERE I CAN HAVE SURGERY ON MY BACK, IM GOING TO KEEP TAKING OXYCODONE, IT WORKS. THE ONLY REASON I WENT TO LAKE JOY MED-STOP INSTEAD OF THE DR. I HAVE SEEN THE LAST FEW MONTHS IS IM WORKING OUT OF TOWN 12HRS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK. I DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO RIGHT NOW. I HAD TO GET OFF WORK EARLY LOOSING $66 OF MY MONEY FOR 2HRS OF MY TIME, PLUS THE $112 FOR THE VISIT. TO GET PRESCRIBED 21 ULTRAMS. WHAT A JOKE! ENOUGH FOR A COUPLE DAYS. NOW I GOT TO TAKE OFF WORK EARLY NEXT WEEK, LOOSE MORE MONEY, AND HAVE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER VIST. I SHOULDN'T HAVE LISTENED TO THAT NURSE ON THE PHONE TELLING ME THAT, THE DR. CAN GET ME REFILLS ON MY MEDICINE. I GUESS THAT DR. DOESN'T THINK THAT PAIN EXIST, DOING WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING, BEING CRAMPED UP IN A HOLE FOR 12HRS WELDING ALL DAY, KILLS MY BACK. I BET HE NEVER WORKED A HARD IN HIS LIFE, TO EVEN KNOW WHAT PAIN IS.

Go here if you don't mind being charged nearly $300 for nothing. A "Dr" saw me for no more than 5 minutes and didn't do anything other than give me a prescription that I couldn't even use.

Also, they've recently TRIPLED their fees, but I wasn't warned of this BEFORE receiving treatment....only when the bill arrived in the mail a couple of days ago. A few weeks after this visit, I went to one of the other Houston Healthcare Med Stops for a respiratory infection, and I was told of the recent TRIPLING of their fees at the front desk. That's when I walked out and went to AppleCare for more affordable treatment. The Houston Healthcare Med Stops are a ripoff for anyone with health insurance. If you don't have insurance, then it's probably a great place for you, but it's a ripoff for anyone with insurance. I was told that my fee would be $112 if I DIDN"T have insurance, but since I did have insurance, I was quoted a fee of $380 to be seen for a respiratory infection. Maybe if I didn't have to pay my high insurance premiums, I would have had the $380 to give them!

This place is a waste of time and money. Go to AppleCare or your primary care physician instead.

The staff in the office was great but the poor review comes from the doctor. My husband always makes fun of me for using WebMD as my doctor. But the when push comes to shove I go to the doctor when things are bad and with my family doctor I trust his opinion over what I have self-diagnosed through Web MD. However, when I took my husband to the MedStop (because it was the weekend) with an EXTREMELY red eye I was pretty confident it was not pink eye as it never had any kind pus or liquid coming out of it. (which I feel like is pretty pinkeye 101 knowledge) Of course the doctor immediately diagnosed it as pinkeye, I asked him how it was pinkeye since it had no discharge and he said only children get the discharge because they tend to rub their eyes more. I trusted his judgement over mine but of course with the antibiotics it did not get better so we ended up having to see another doctor. My family doctor took one look at it and said we needed to see an eye doctor ASAP. It was a VERY serious problem and it has resulted in his prescription for his glasses actually changing.. no thanks to the medstop doctor who caused us to wait three extra days for a proper diagnosis and still charged over $100.

The past 2 times I have visite...

The past 2 times I have visited this location, I saw the same doctor. The visits were for different things and both times, I was told by the doctor that he didn't know what was causing my problems and that he was going to give me a all-inclusive antibiotic to cover anything. The most recent time I was there, last night, I was given a steroid shot and was told to call if I had any problems or side effects. I woke up this morning to my heart racing, shaking, nausea, and one of the worst migraines I have ever had. When I called and spoke to a nurse about the symptoms, I was told that a steroid would not cause a migraine. From everything I have seen, it can! They do not know they are talking about!
