My three daughters take ballet from KCYA, specifically Ms. Kim and Ms. Jennifer. They are AMAZING. My oldest began at The Culture House under Jeremiah Enning - but when they moved to Olathe we had a difficult time with the class times and location. Taking a break from ballet was not the right move, but after a 2 year break - we searched high and low for a ballet atmosphere that would provide very high level instruction as well as stellar recitals where my daughter could enjoy showing the skills she learned. After enrolling my then reluctant dancer (who was behind two years and 13 at the time) in two classes - one at the level she was supposed to be at, and one in a technique class to bring her up to speed in terminology and moves (recommendations from the very knowledgable Ms. Kim), she was able to push through a very difficult year to reach the level she is at today. She never would have stayed in ballet without the encouragement and pushing from Ms. Kim and Ms. Jennifer, and she and I are both incredibly grateful for their beleif in her. My oldest's self esteem sky-rocketed with their motivation and her own perseverance to "catch-up". What an opportunity they gave her. Who else would have done that? My other two daughters, now age 6 and 12, have also learned so much over the last three years we've danced with KCYA. This has been the only company they have danced with. We LOVE the teaching, the strictness, the recitals. Not one other dance company I've visited puts on a show like Ms. Kim. I highly recommend this company for the serious dancer who wants to learn from the best, yet still enjoy the dancing and the atmosphere.
Definitely recommend, for multiple reasons: Massage: I've had a couple of different therapists here and all have been good. Very friendly, professional, and seem to really want to make you feel better. Prices: best you'll find anywhere. $38 intro hour-long massage (or $21 for half hour), $1/hr chair massages, and membership programs that provide $49 monthly massages PLUS discounts on top of that for extra massages. Service/Staff: Friendly, work with you (I got my membership application fee knocked off!), great with scheduling. Open 7 days a week, most hours of the day, so very convenient. Even give you water for "detox" after the massage! (i thought it was stupid at first, but i really am very thirsty after a good massage)! I didn't believe in massage at first, but now I really do. It was the only thing that made my tension headaches disappear -- if you have chronic pain/stress and aren't a millionaire, this is the place to be. I recommend it to everyone! **downside: be warned, about the membership --> $50/month for a 60-minute massage/month for 12 months, and you're locked in by contract and can't just opt out. There is a 6-month option (which I got) but with an application fee of $29. I was lucky to get out of it, just so happened computers were messing up that day and i had to wait half an hour so I got that special extra. But jsut so you know what your'e getting into ahead of time, if you do opt for the membership (which is not required, of course, but a good deal).
The Salon DeJaris staff and owner exude the meaning of professionalism. From the moment of scheduling, to the completion of service I was treated with great delivery of customer service. The owner of the salon practices both internal and external customer service. I enjoyed the fact that the staff recognizes that the value and respect of the client is an integral part of vital service delivery. The owner does an excellent job with the hair styles and also the health of the hair. I found that the owner practices effective listening, encourages regular feedback, and is open to constructive suggestions that benefit the clients overall experience. I truly received more than expected, as there was positive and uplifting dialogue throughout the appointment. The owner DJ loves the art of hair, and challenges herself and staff to practice ongoing learning in the latest hair trends/hair care practices. She is a mentor to girls and women, speaking positively of other peers within the hair care industry. If you are seeking a salon that is not driven by money, quick unhealthy styles, and poor tactics, then I would encourage you to visit Kansas City's great salon, Salon De'Jaris.
