Its really about time Kansas City got a new steakhouse downtown that was NOT a chain! I am so sick of Capitol Grill and Mortons! I have eaten at the 801 in Des Moines a few time while on business and was pleasently suprised when I saw them open in KC. The inside of the restaurant is amazing! The detail given to everything from the sinks in the bathroom to the huge wine case in the bar really speaks for itself. The service was professional and attentive. I was totally blown away at how fast they cleared our dinner plates for our party of 12... a class act! We ate the lobster corn dogs, the prime rib and a 16oz KC strip with "oscar" on it. We haven not had such wonderfully prepared food in some time. We asked to speak with the Chef, who was suprisingly younger than we had imagined. Although he wouldnt divulge the exact recipe for the corn dogs, he did give us some tips for cooking prime rib at home. I cant wait to go back, some collegues and I will be meeting there for drinks and appetizers often. Good Show! -Charles Xavier

At first, the resturant looked drab and dim with little decor, just little cows and wooden tables and chairs. For the price, you get plenty of food, including homemade garlic toast and pickled beets with your meal. I had a house special, an 8 oz filet and shrimp scampi, which was reccommended by my server. The scampi sauce was rich and garlicy far beyond what I've had elsewhere. My date tried the Ribeye which was cooked to perfection, and though it looked a little fatty for my taste, he said it was just right, favorful and tender. We shared warm apple pie for dessert which was served with ice cream. overall, i was pleased with the experience.
Since I've moved to OP, KS I've been told several times that I have to try Jess & Jims. So my husband, my daughter, and I finally tried it. I just thought it was an average steak. Nothing special. The service was okay, but again, nothing special. I would maybe try it again, maybe the time we went the service and food were just a fluke. And least if I try it again, my expectations will be low.
They cleaned up! I was in today and the place was immaculate ! If you have not tried this place, you need to! Best steak sandwich I have ever had. Huge portions for even the regular size sandwich $5.25, I think. Fresh rolls heaped with steak, cheese, onions served fresh off grill, piping hot! Try it, youwill be glad you did!
The best steaks in the kansas city area, I always have the butterfly strip 28 oz.I would also say plaza III has the second best and Hereford in Leawood third and dont go to the new steak place in Leawood called Sullivans very nice place but very over priced for the quality of steak, side orders not much better.
The food, while being a bit pricey, is awesome! The chef should be commended! The prime rib is superb. Service is very good and attentive to your needs.
Great steaks and service. The atmosphere is wonderful and romantic and a great place to have brought my wife for dinner.
If you want the best overall experience here, request for a man by the name of Steve to be your waiter. He is AMAZING!
nice atmosphere and the food is good
