Overall

I would not recommend this place to anybody. Their customer service is horrible and their finance manager doesn't have a clue what he is doing. The owner is extremely arrogant and doesn't care about customers. Especially if you buy something used. Once you sign the paperwork he will tell you to get lost. Avoid this hell hole at all costs!

After purchasing a motorcycle there last year, I have to say, they will no longer be getting my business.



I will give them credit during the initial sales experience. The salesman and manager were all polite, courteous, and not pushy. it was only after I got my bike (A 2007 Yamaha FZ6) in early June that problems began.



After the first couple hundred miles, I noticed I was losing oil. I put about 1,000 miles on the bike and had to add an additional 1.5-2qts. I pulled the plugs and noticed one of the plugs was really bad, white chunks and carbon buildup, etc. Initially, the service department seemed helpful and asked me to bring the bike back in. I figured a few days, up to a week max for them to diagnose the problem. Mind you, I bought this bike as a daily commuter during the spring, summer, and fall.



Two weeks passed and I heard nothing. Finally after calling several times they informed me it failed a coolant pressure test and they would have to drop the engine. Again, several weeks passed until I heard anything, at which point I was informed they were testing the head. To make a long story short, it was several months before I got a call that the bike was done. New head gasket and piston rings; unfortutently the warranty I purchased would not cover it (what a waste of $$$) although that is not entirely their fault. I still had to pay $600.



I had my father pick the bike up for me, but it seems Reno's made a stupid mistake as they gave my dad the wrong bike!!! After making the 1.5hr trip to the shop again I was able to finally get my bike back in September. Everything felt fine until after a few hundred miles, my oil light came on!! I had to add a half quart to get it in the normal range. I chalked it up to the new rings sealing and continued to ride the bike, while adding oil every few hundred miles. After 1,000 miles I knew the problem had clearly not been fixed. I pulled the same bad plug as before; it was had carbon deposits and did not look good. I reluctantly called Reno's back and brought the bike back in. I was bummed about potentially not having a ride for the rest of the season. After checking the coolant pressure, they stated everything was fine!... even though I had been having the same symptoms as before! At this point I just said screw it and took my bike home. The problem was never fixed, even after several months and $600 in parts and labor. I am now stuck with a payment for a bike that continually burns oil like crazy and that I am afraid to ride because of doing further damage. I don't want to take it back to Reno's as who know how long it will take them this time. Suffice to say, Reno's could be a decent dealership but the service department ruins the place.

Overall

Just bought a bike from Reno's and they have been very easy to deal with during and after the sale. I would recommend anyone looking for a bike to visit Reno's. The staff is very friendly and they go the extra mile to take care of you!

In response to MicheleT717 we want her to know that at Reno's Powersports we do everything we can to get our customers the very best rates and terms on the purchase of their cycles and ATV's. Unfortunately not everyone is approved, and in this day of tiered pricing not everyone who gets approved gualifies for the tier one 3.9% APR. In Micheles case we would have loved to save her the difference between 9% at her credit union and 3.9% at Yamaha, unfortunately the lender did not give us the credit approval to do so, also we have a number of lenders that offer better rates than her credit union but none were willing to approve her credit request at the preferred rate tier. Believe you me if it was our decision every cutomer would get the best rate, unfortunately the Bank makes the loan and the credit desision.

Beware the Finance Dept

I'm pretty unhappy with what happened to me at Reno and I certainly wouldn't recommend my experience to my friends. I recently purchased an '09 VStar 1300. I liked my salesman but between the finance manager and the sales manager I felt like pretty victimized. There was a 3.99% finance offer through Yamaha and I agreed to apply for that and only that. I told both the sales manager and the finance manager that I was pre-approved through my credit union and would happily use them UNLESS the 3.99 offer was approved. I was told it would take five minutes to find out. TWO HOURS later I was offered 9% (1/2 point higher than my credit union). My clue should have been when the finance manager joked to the sales manager that ""we tried like hell to win her finance business but just couldn't beat the credit union"". NOW come to find out my credit was shopped to AT LEAST FOUR creditors (three of whom were not offering the 3.99 deal) because I'm still getting mail from the other vendors a month later. I realize I signed a credit app so what was done was probably legal but it was unethical as hell. I realize the dealership makes a premium when it's able to extend credit but at the cost of the goodwill of a customer it isn't worth it.
