General Info: Welcome to MainCor Our Story Main Street is the most significant street in Kansas City, historically and in the future. It links special places in Kansas City like the River Market, Downtown, Crown Center and The Country Club Plaza. It is also an important corporate and commercial corridor in its own right mixing corporate headquarters of American Century Investments, Hallmark Cards, Federal Reserve Bank Kansas City Branch, the Metropolitan Assembly, the Historic Madrid Theatre, the Unicorn Theatre and small businesses like Davey's Uptown Ramblers Club, ABC Storage, Contract Furnishings, Children's Campus Center and the Conklin Fangman Motors, to name a few. Surrounding the eclectic mix are lovely historic neighborhood districts of Southmoreland, Old Hyde Park, Union Hill and Heart of Westport. The Main Street Corridor Development Corporation ( MainCor ) is a not for profit Community Development Corporation. It was founded in 1981 to provide support and technical assistance to encourage effective economic development along the Main Street Corridor from The Plaza to Crown Center. MainCor brings together the corporations, small businesses, institutions, adjacent neighborhood associations and various City agencies to share a common goal - to make the Corridor a safe, clean, inviting place for people to visit, shop and live.
