World Gym

Great gym, people are very motivated and in shape, employees are very helpful!

I have been lifting for more than 10 years, and I think the equipments, including dumbbells, barbells and the Hammer Strengths machines are awesome, which give you variety of options to hit your muscle groups. The cardio machines are adequate, don't have much to complain.

Atmospheres is fantastic, everyone works hard, if you cannot fit into such culture, just go to Planet Fitness, no one will intimidate you in there, and you get your free donuts every once in a while.

I came in about a year ago to test out the gym with a free 1 month membership. First off, you can only acquire one of those if you already know someone who attends the gym, seems a little shady to me. So I go in and get the free month and everything, then the trainer takes me into his office and has me sign a document. I did not want to sign a contract at the time and I told him this several times, and he kept telling me that this was just locking in the rate and I wasn't signing a contract. Well, because I went over this several times with him, I trusted him and signed the document and proceed to go there after work to workout. Next thing I know, I'm getting a bill in the mail in about a week and a half stating I owe them for a full year's membership. I write them a letter stating what the trainer (almost like a salesman) told me and that this was not to be a contract. They then sent me a letter telling me I did not follow the cancellation guidelines and that I owe them all the money. I then proceed to keep calling the gym (they wouldn't let me speak directly to the owner) to tell them of the situation and that I was very upset at the misleading information that was given to me. In the end, one of the representatives contacted the owner for me, and he said he could not do anything. What they offered me was an additional 4 months of membership for free, but I still had to pay the full 12 month membership price. In the end, I paid it because I have excellent credit and did not want it messed up because of this. Word of advise, be careful with what the trainers tell you, because they lie, and take your money, and energy, elsewhere. UPDATED 3/4/2013, With regards to the comment left below, a free month trial is very useful as it gives consumers a scope of what the gym has to offer and it allows them to use the machines more than once to let them decide the the machine fits their goals. I have found a better gym, 24 Hour Fitness, right down the road from this gym, and it's less expensive.
