I never write a review on a single visit so after my third time, I feel I can probably offer a pretty objective one. The first two times I visited was with my spouse. The first time we had dinner, the second we had drinks and apps on the terrace. The third time, last Friday, was dinner for a business meeting. All three times the experience was outstanding. The pre-dinner cocktails were well prepared and abundant, the food done to perfection, the wine suggested by the server on the mark (no pun intended) and the desert a sweet remembrance. On the second occasion, cocktails and apps on the terrace was equally well done. If I remember right, my wife and I ordered a cheese tray. She ordered a manhattan - Makers Mark of course- and I ordered a bombay saphire martini with three olives. Drinks were great and the cheese tray just enough to give us a pleasant satisfaction but not stuffed feeling. In all three cases, the wait staff was attentive without being bothersome. They were knowledgeable and made some great suggetions. The only drawback to the event is the decor. Am not a fan of modern decor for a restaurant that prides itself in old kentucky charm - we are talking bourbon afterall. The room is open, well lit and certainly airy but at the same time is very noisy. Nothing intimate here. All in all though, for a chain, the food is great, the staff awesome and the drinks plentifull.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Plaza and dined at Brio. We decided to take our time for dinner and ordered an appetizer and shared a bottle of wine. When it came time to order our meal we both requested whole grain penne. Our dinner came with the wrong noodles and it was no big deal but our waitress took our food back and apologized several times. We decided to exchange cards and the manager, Matthew, came to apologize for the mistake and he said our food would be out soon and that they would not charge us for our meal. We were very appreciative! Within a few minutes later he came back with 2 glasses of champagne and said "no anniversary is complete without a little bubbly!". We couldn't believe it, we're just a young normal couple enjoying our anniversary dinner. Our food came and it was delicious! Our waitress, Amy, came to see if there was anything else we needed. My husband said we were ready for the check and she said that it was ALL taken care of. My eyes started to tear up-I was blown away by their service (and food!). So we had a bottle of wine, appetizer, champagne, entree and dessert all taken care of by the manager. Now, I know this is a rare occurrence and we were an exception. But because of the wonderful service our 6th anniversary was one we'll always remember and be thankful for. Thank you Brio!!!
Although the portion sizes have decreased, the taste and presentation of the food there is glorious. The worst service I had was during prom weekend (we didn't know) and it took an hour to get our food. The restaurant manager gave us our meal for free. If you are familiar with the KC area, I would find out when homecoming and prom weekends are because it takes forever to get food. Other than that, this is an amazing place. I would reccommend it to anyone. Sundays are bonuses because there is always a live band playing in Zona Rosa's courtyard, so if you eat on the patio, then you will have great music as well as great food.
