This is the best bbq in the country! The ribs are meaty and tender, the burnt ends have a wonderful flavor, and the fries and onion rings are fried to perfection. I've tried almost everything on their menu and I've never been disappointed. Even their tenderloin sandwich is good; a whole lot better than Kristy's on 55th street in Turner. You don't have to be dressed up to eat there, it's very casual. The clientele is a mixture of people from all walks of life. I've seen race car drivers in there; Ryan Newman and Kyle & Richard Petty (not at the same time). There's been movie stars such as Vin Diesel and Eric Stonestreet. A lot of famous people "rubbing shoulders" with workers from GM and BPU. Every time I go into Wyandot BBQ I see someone I know, whether it's a neighor, a client, or someone I went to school with. One of the best things I love other than the food is how good it smells when I go in, also it amazes me how quick I get my food, whether it's "to go" or "eat in". What a great place!
This family owned BBQ joint is amazing! In a town like KC with BBQ everywhere there is tough compeititon and very few places truly stand out as mouth wateringly good... But Roscoe's definiately shines above the rest! Everyone is very friendly and you get that "part of the family" welcome and service. They use high quality meats and the flavor shows!! The sauce is made in house and it is wonderful! The ribs are fall of the bone and the burnt ends are yummy, the best I've had. A note of caution, the serving of fries is HUGE and more than enough for the two of share with some left over. I love the beans, but they do have onions in them so my husband isn't a huge fan, but that's more a matter personal taste. The cheesey corn is great and unique. ~wife of 3Brain20
I waited to give this place a review as I wanted to try many of different kinds of meats and then give an honest review. I have tried ham, chicken, salmon, and hamburger patties. The one that stuck out as having the best taste is the chicken. I found the pricing to be one of the best in KC metro area, but don't expect white linen table clothes on the outdoor picnic tables. The staff is usually very friendly and willing to talk to you about BBQ. Those of you that enjoy cooking will find this same location to provide many different varieties of wood that you can purchase to smoke your own meat. I give this location three stars BBQ was "Good" but I have found other places that have better taste. Price is one of the best in KC.
This place is not fancy (see my review of Jack Stack) , but my goodness they know how to do what they say they do and thats put out some serious BBQ. We've eaten there on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The fact that its standing room only and line is out the door should attest to the goodness they put out. My favorite are the ribs of course. The are tender, juicy without being fatty and fall of the bone. My sister, who is in the BBQ catering business herself raves about this stuff when she visits. Not to be missed - their crack fries. Why "Crack" because once you've eaten em, your are hooked for life.
This was probably the best pulled pork I've had in my life. I don't know what the do, somewhere in their process they must do something unique that holds the moisture in the meat that keeps it wonderfully moist and tender on top of the delectable flavor. And then there are the ribs, my god the ribs. They are beyond reproach. Close your eyes and imagine what ribs are supposed to be. Not just how they should taste, how the should look and smell and feel, these are better than that. Until you've had Joe's ribs you don't truely know what real ribs can be. Also, don't sleep on the fries or the red brand and rice.
Hands down, best BBQ on the planet! We found this place a few years ago after trying all the other famous BBQ places in KC. Everything on the menu is great, even the sides. I just had a burnt end sandwich for lunch yesterday and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! We live 3 hours away but stop at Oklahoma Joe's every thim we pass through KC.
I'm always looking for a great BBQ place and boy did I ever! It was around 2 in the afternoon on a Friday and the place was packed. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. They even kept the order line moving so there wasn't a long wait. It's to bad the building is so small cause they could use some more tables.
this place offers quality bbq. the meat is high quality (a lot of bbq places use low quality meat and try to hide it by cooking the hell out of it and drenching it in sauce) they have excellent sauce and sides. My favorite KC bbq joint (i think gates sucks). I recommend the pulled pork sandwich and waffle fries
I have only tried the barbeque pork sandwich and several sides. The sides were excellent, particularly the french fries. The pork was good but I would have preferred a larger serving on my sandwich. The service was fast and friendly despite a large number of customers.
Great food and dining. There was a long line, but I got a beer to drink while I was waiting. Service was good to. I ordered the ribs, and also got fries on the side and it was way too much food for me... but I wantred to eat it all right there as it was so good!
