This Red Lobster restaurant is a getting a major overhaul with a new management team that is putting an end to some really bad practices. The servers, bartenders, hosts/hostesses are being given a complete revamp with a focus on better service, better attitude, and an end to caving in to the recent customer scams that are trying to take this restaurant under. The food is delicious and the service is good, but the clientele have spun out of the control with people insisting they received bad service in order to have their meals comped or so they will be given some freebie for even the slightest inconvenience. I sat next to a table where an elderly woman got up and began cursing like a sailer to a manager after being seated about three minutes who began screaming that every time she comes, she gets bad service - and she made a scene in front of the entire restaurant! I had to wonder why she continued to come? I have also witnessed a couple on my other side eat a meal they didn't order saying they didn't know they didn't order Lobster! Lobster (at $25.00 at least) that they didn't think they should pay for after eating it!!! Times are a changing here, however, because a new management team is weeding these types of customers out! And thank goodness for those of us who enjoy the food, the service, and will pay our bill!
I thought opening a seafood store in such a highly voilenced neigborhood like NiceTown would be horrible and unwise . All the little ghetto "corner" shops turn out to be a mad house but in the beginning they are marvelous . I have been living on Rowan Street all my life and I know better than to do anything public around these people . The night I first ordered from Strictly I was in desprate need of some crab cakes . My bright duaghter suggested the new seafood place on Germantown Ave. and I ordered just to try it out . A young lady answered the phone and I thought I might not like the place because we could barely even hear each other of cause to the blasting music in the backround . I went to go get it and they were so polite and sweet . I remember the chefs in the back handing the platters over to the two sisters in the front and a young girl would put napkins and forks inside . I try to order from Strictly whenever I need a good boost . I haven't tried their catering service yet but I would recomend it . The owner who I heard is Micheal Durant loves all his employees and they are all family . He provides many room for his costumers to move around and enjoy eating . I do not like that they have such little room in the back to serve food because of the room outside the counter . EAT AT STRICTLYS!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to give the place a thumbs up just for the location which is in the heart of downtown. The place was packed on Friday and the wait was about 20 minutes which isn't too annoying and we drank from the bar. I had a strawberry martini and it was too powerful. I could hardly taste anything but the alcohol. We finally get seated and the waiter was extremely nice and knowledgeable and seemed to hit it off with our kids immediately. Our daughter had no interest in eating any seafood and the waiter made suggestions to make it easier. Our appetizers came very quickly and we are glad they did. We had the calamari which was good and crab cakes which I thought were terrible. Then it kind of went downhill. For some reason, they could not get out or meals. It took almost 30 minutes. I had the Hawaii seafood combo which was under cooked after 30 minutes. By then though, I was starving so I didn't complain. The waiter was very apologetic about the wait and we understand it wasn't her fault but they had a hard time in the kitchen for whatever reason. I can't say if we will go back. We very rarely hit downtown and there are too many options to choose from. First impressions are important.
I went here with my husband and 16 month old daughter. I ordered the chicken tender platter for her. It came out fairly quickly but the chicken was a little dry. The fries however were delicious. My husband ordered their crabs which he downed 3 whole bowels. Obviously he enjoyed them. My dinner was delicious. I got the shrimp platter. There was fried shrimp, shrimp cocktail and shrimp salad. YUM! The waitress was so nice and sweet and very good with my daughter. It does seem to attract an older crowd because my hubby and I were the youngest ones there. A little pricey though.
I love this quirky little neighborhood place! I used to live in the neighborhood, and it's a friendly little place where it's common to greet many people as they come in, so many familiar faces. The servers are attentive and pleasant. One thing, though, NEVER order the crab cake Lite Lunch Special, it consists of only 1 tiny crab cake and a shot glass serving of cole slaw. Seriously not an acceptable amount of food, and an outrage, even at the bargain price. if you're over 3 years old, it's not enough food! Other than that, it's a great place all around!
I love this place. I have never been to the one on 52nd street but the one on 43rd street is awesome. Now that they have another one built down South Street with a bar (what more could I ask for) I think I might have a new location to chill at after work instead of Copa on 48th and Spruce. It's nothing like sitting back laughing with your girl friends and Sisters over a nice drinks and some seafood. A girls dream. I have plans to take my dad, mom and little sister for Father's Day to the location on 7th and Spruce. I wish BOTS much success
Gallo's seafood Restaurant offers a nice atmosphere and good seafood at a reasonable price. The crowded restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings is proof positive that people in this section of the city want this type of dining experience. Gallos' crab cakes are mostly crab meat not a lot of filler. Their broiled shrimp and flounder are cooked to perfection. Their nightly specials offer a nice option from the regular menu. Their stewed tomatoes are to die for!
My best friend took me there and I have gone twice and twice I made a fool and a pig of myself I have not visited the other locations but this one was so good that I couldn't stop eating untill it was all gone. I am visiting this page because I am going to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday. The alaskin king claws and the dongonese with stemed shrimp brocoli knocked my socks off. The chocolate cake was to die for.
Maybe it's a tad overpriced. Maybe some of the waitresses haven't yet perfected the skill of multi-tasking. But the mix of seafood, beer, and good company is all that really matters at a place like this. If you want quick service, go to Red Lobster. If you want to go somewhere exciting with really good food and a good atmosphere, go to Chickie & Petes.
First time I went to the Seafood Factory was about 2 years ago. It was a for a friends birthday party. And we had a ball. The barmaids where friendly and the drinks where great. The food has been excellent. The range of seafood is amazing. You have to try the platters Have not had a bad one yet.
