My car would not engage into Drive. It would appear to be getting gas but would not engage. I called around town to try to find a shop I would be comfortable with. As a single woman and not knowledgeable about cars/engines, I felt vulnerable. I ended up at Tara Transmission based on the review given by Mason.ball.39 below in March of 2014 plus a conversation I had with David. I WAS NOT disappointed. He determined the problem was a leak of my transmission fluid, fixed the leak, test drove the car and determined all was well. I expected to be treated with respect and courtesy and again was not disappointed. But I must say I was elated when he determined the problem was so small he charged my exactly $0.00. One would think this kind of kindness and professionalism was a thing of the past. It is alive and well at Tara Transmission. Take your vehicle here if you want HONEST and COMPETENT service!
I took my van to David as it was not shifting out of overdrive like it was supposed to. We drove it quite a ways and the symptoms would not appear. I left it with him and he drove it and finally saw what I was talking about. Then instead of telling me it needed to be rebuilt he changed the fluid and filter and found that the filter was not properly affixed when I tried to do it myself. Now my van runs great. It is so refreshing to find a COMPOTENT, HONEST, and ETHICAL mechanic. Do not hesitate to bring your transmission problems to this establishment- 35 years in the business for a reason. Hopefully, I won't have to bring something back but if I do, I will bring my issues to this man.
