Upon graduating from Villanova University, Dr. Longobardi received a full scholarship to graduate school at Iona College's Hagan School of Business where he completed the accelerated MBA program. While attending graduate school, Dr. Longobardi began volunteering at his local EMS department where he developed a passion for medicine and service. Subsequently, he pursued postgraduate studies at Rutgers University before attending the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Longobardi performed a one year podiatric orthopedic residency at the East Orange Veterans Administration Hospital. From there, he went on to complete a two year residency concentrating in foot and ankle surgery at Union Hospital/St.Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey.

Large bump inside of the foot near big toe, redness, soreness. Bunions may not cause pain at firs; however, they can always increase in size and pain. No one bunion is the same. All bunions should be evaluated and specific treatment options should be individualized. Treatment options range from CONSERVATIVE CARE (which includes pads/shields, accommodative shoes, and orthotics) to surgery. Achilles tendonitis: pain from overuse at the back of the heel. The Achilles tendon is largest tendon and provides most strength for push off. Ignoring Achilles tendon pain can lead to long term injury. Always good to check for tears and ruptures. Treatment consists of decreased activity with rest and ice.

Flat feet, also called pes planus, is a deformity that occurs when the arch of the foot collapses and comes into complete or near-complete contact with the ground. The condition may be congenital (occurring at the time of birth) or acquired (developing over time, most often as a result of age or injury). Diagnosis of flat feet typically involves a visual examination of the foot, supported by imaging tests. Treatments may involve over-the-counter pain medications, orthotic arch supports, foot exercises and, less commonly, surgery. In addition to his podiatric practice, Dr. Longobardi is the Medical Director at Mountainside Ambulatory Surgical Center.
